ET on a Submarine VS ET on a Carrier?

I got SECF on a Sub (S in SECF stands for Submarine by the way), but I want to know if they are equally trained in electronics and if one has a better skill set for a future career in the civilian workforce. Really I just want to know the differences if any (beside one working on a sub and and the other on aircraft) thanks for reading! Plz people that have 2 cents, thanks again!

my bias is showing.. stay Subs. the training pipeline is identical, but you have many more opportunities as a Bubblehead for other skills to be acquired. smaller, tighter crew. you won't get lost in the crowd among the other 3000 carrier Sailors( not counting the embarked airwing which adds another thousand or so)

the Clearance will be useful as a civilian no matter what you do.

The training is not identical: as a submariner you will be sent to Basic Enlisted Submarine School where you will learn about submarines. There is no special school for carriers. You will learn a lot more on a submarine than on a carrier. Good luck you are in a good field. My son is a nuke ET on an attack sub and he likes it. He can also do all the electrician watches which you would not be able to do on a carrier. That is because the only electricians on a sub are nukes.

I am a SECF ET. When I went through the pipeline, they were totally different schools. In 20-years I never interfaced with surface ETs, ever.

On subs we work on different systems, that are not on surface ships.

In the sub fleet, we earn a great deal more money than surface sailors. Our bonuses are higher, and opportunities to be tax-free are much more likely.

You will go to the same A schools no matter what ship, boat, or base you go to. What will be different is your C schools where you specialize on different equipment.
