Accounting question - Quick Books?

Hi. I have asked a few question on here before and received great help. I am not pro but try to do the books for my families small business.

I have cash reciepts and sometimes we keep the cash from a sale so we can pay a few personal things (owners equity) and small thing for the "shop". How do I show a bill paid with cash. I know I can enter it in "enter bills" but how do I show a payment with "cash on hand".

    You need to add a Cash account to your chart of accounts. Set it up as a bank account and track the funds in exactly the same way as checking.
