How did the govnm't got bids, approvals, and have signs made & posted in less than 8 hr?
I'm starting to think this shutdown was planned months ago. It takes getting a contract, bids, materials, logos & specifications weeks in advance for approval and for making & posting signs. There were tens of thousands 3 X 4 signs posted across the country less than 8 hrs. (haven't had a shut down in l7 yrs, I believe).
"Granny" - speaking with someone working off & on in government with contracts and all the red bureaucracy tape involved in a project like this (normally taking many months), it's impossible. Fed ex? Home comp? Don't buy it!
The man who worked on & off for governmt for 40 yrs, doesn't buy it either.

As much as I would like to believe in your implied conspiracy .......As much as I do not trust this government..... sorry.....do not buy it
FIRST Many of these government agencies....such as the park service..... have their own internal sign making capability..... they can knock out thousands of signs in less than a few hours
SECOND I live in a third world country..... I can walk up the street to "ICONcepts"...... shell out a few coins and have a couple of thousand cardboard signs made in a few hours...... canvas banners or metal signs take a little longer.... If such a service is available here I am sure it is even more readily available in America
FINALLY Government agencies have PIP funds.... money set aside for exactly this type of requirement.... no bids or contracts are required...... I used to work in a government agency who had funds and authority to buy products and services such as signs "off the shelf"..... without contracts or bids
There is no question the government is deliberately trying to make this shut down as "painful" as possible ..... put as much pressure as they can on the Republican party....... I am a veteran and my retirement funds..... the money I need to pay rent and buy food..... are held up..... I am hurting...... but the existence of signs does not prove any conspiracy...... just the insensitivity and greed of a disconnected partisan government. This shut down is costing us a million dollars a day just to spank the Republicans
.......and it is working...... the masses are blaming the wrong political party

Fed Ex Office can do it in three hours.
Not to mention a home computer can do it in less.
