WeDnesday, do we really need the "D"?

We're not supposed to pronounce the "D?" Great! I suppose somebody's gonna tell me that we're NOT supposed to pronounce the "k" in KNEE either!
I think the English language should get rid of ALL silent letters. Is it a SORD, or a SWORD? When kids are taught spelling in early elementary school, teachers tell the kids to sound out the word. Um, and people wonder why so many kids turn out crazy, like me!

yes, but there are at least a hundred other words you could say that about. Like cough would be easier to spell as coff.

I don't now I guess its just a silent letter but really to me it seems pointless cause Wednesday should be written how it is pronounced Wenesday

Well, 'beatle fanatic', would we then drop the A and the final E in beatle since we don't actually pronounce them? I pronounce the D in Wednesday just to annoy people.
