In this context, what type of word is "that"?

I've just thought about this, and I'm confused as to which type of word the word "that" is in the following sense:

"It's the season that I love the most".

I have the feeling it's a preposition, but I'm not quite sure because I went to school in French.

It is used as a conjuction.

You can get away with using 'that' as a relative pronoun when referring to an unnamed person or persons.

He was the man that sold me my new car.

However, if referring to a specific person, always use who.

Jim was the man who sold me my new car.

I should have the French would have taught you more about grammar than anyone. Their most popular program is a spelling bee.
