Do people still enjoy handwritten Christmas cards?

I'm on a budget this year so I can't buy people gifts (broke college student) but I can afford a bulk of Christmas cards (a bulk of 20 was $1 at Dollar Tree). I'm afraid people might find them too cheap? I mean I'm going to buy stickers and stuff and decorate them as best as I can so it doesn't look AS cheap so it looks like I actually put in some effort. I'm writing each person a paragraph thanking them for all that they did for me, how they inspire me, and how I really appreciate them as a friend. So it's more about them than about my family and my life.

Do you think my friends will appreciate that or do people not send cards anymore? I feel like I don't tell them I appreciate them very often so this is my way of telling them "hey you're important to me and even though I might not say it, I really do mean it".

I guess the only thing I'm scared of is that they'll think it's really cheap. I can't exactly afford to buy a Christmas card for each person when each decent looking card is like $4. Since I'm making 36 cards, that would have been almost $150 to spend on cards, something I don't have. Is it corny to give someone Christmas cards? I feel like people only tell people Merry Christmas over Facebook or Instagram. Even "e-mail" seems like the old age.

Update:

Also, I see these friends at least every single week, and even then, I STILL want to give them one. I'm personally giving these cards to them, not mailing them out. I don't know where 80% of them live anyway, so I'm just going to give these to them personally.

Update 2:

@sillywhisper: Yeah I understand that. At least you're being honest. Haha actually, while buying these Christmas cards, I came across one that my friend had given to me last year. I just laughed to myself a bit. I didn't think she was being cheap. I can understand it was just easier and cheaper to buy the bulk. Maybe she was having financial troubles and she couldn't do much.

I would very much like to send my friends the cards but I don't know where they live! It would be kind of odd to ask them where they lived without a good reason to. I would also like to buy each friend a nice $4 decorated card, but I can't afford to spend over $100 on Christmas cards. My budget for the cards total was literally $20, and that was including the stickers and decorations I bought for the cards. :/ I really would love to, but I really just can't. Perhaps next year?

Thanks for your honesty though! :) I guess I'll just try my best, I guess.

I know this isn't the right sentiment, but....while I absolutely love getting Christmas cards in my real mailbox, I don't really enjoy cards that are handed to me. It does feel like my friend is being cheap. I'd especially feel that way if while shopping at the dollar store, I see boxed cards exactly like the one given to me. I'd rather they hadn't even bothered. If I see someone in person, I am surprised and very pleased to get even the cheapest memento as long as it isn't a card. Yes, I know, that makes me a jerk.

No, this is a great idea. It actually shows that you care and you put thought into your words and cared enough about them to hand write them a christmas card. I'm glad to see people still writing cards. Gifts are just excuses to show that they "want to give someone something".

And anyways, something is better than nothing as they say

Don't sweat it, they'll love it

    Best of luck

I still like getting real cards in the mail and I still l send them. From the $1 store is fine. They aren't all that cheap looking in my opinion. Have fun decorating them!

I think it's a nice idea and if they don't think so they're rude. If you're worrying about them looking too cheap (which I wouldn't) maybe look at target so they'll be alittle bit better quality and still not too pricey
