I used C Cleaner.. this happens everytime. I don't even know if I can make it thru this question without shutting down. I am computer Savvy.. I know it's not over heating. I have a Compaq Laptop almost 5 years old. I don't need answers like, "You need a new one" I maintain it good. But everytime I clean and defrag it, Everything goes haywire. HELP!!

Update:

I've ran everything.. no viruses.. nothing compromising my hard drive.. I just dunno.

Update 2:

I've had a new battery, the temp is fairly cool

    run ccleaner

    run avast

    run malware bytes anti malware

go to start, type in msconfig under search program and files, under startup uncheck any unknown or other software you don't want to startup

go to Start, type cmd, and then type in system.ini

    - if user= user.drv (it means your computer was hacked)

-if timer=timer.drv (then computer is safe)

if everything ok far, reload OS or restore your hd image, if problem persists

its probably hardware related, your power supply maybe failing, hard drive failing, ram failing, etc

if you have extra working parts, swap parts until problem is gone

Are you actually using temperature monitors like realtemp and MSI afterburner? Sounds like temp issues to me but also you might try running chkdsk on your hard drive (going haywire when defragging is a clue that the hard drive might have bad sectors) or completely reinstalling windows and your drivers. 5 years is a long time and you build up a lot of junk over time. Also whats the state of the battery - have you had a new one in all that time?

Most likely a virus. Try to get some anti virus software. Or I suggest brining it to a computer repair that is local to you.
