“Little children, guard yourselves from idols.”—1 JOHN 5:21.?

JEHOVAH is no idol of metal, wood, or stone. He cannot be housed in an earthly temple. Since he is the almighty Spirit, invisible to humans, it is impossible to make an image of him. Hence, the pure worship of Jehovah must be totally free of idolatry.—Exodus 33:20; Acts 17:24; 2 Corinthians 3:17.

Question, knowing this identification of an idol, how can ones bow to figures and worship, kiss the popes ring, saluting pieces of cloth worshiping any idol doesn't this make you feel guilty. ? When you do these things you are worshipping idols.

It should make on feel guilty, because worshipping idols is what the pagans did in the Bible.

This does NOT lead to everlasting life, but destruction.

John 1:18 "No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is at the Father’s side is the one who has explained Him."

Yes, true worship is free of all kinds of idols, icons and statues. This is nothing new- think of the 2nd Commandment “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form* like anything that is in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. You must not bow down to them nor be enticed to serve them, for I, Jehovah your God, am a God who requires exclusive devotion," Exodous 20:4,5

The verse you cited was written by apostle John in the first century to the Christians at that time because when the Lord Jesus Christ was still with them He noticed that there were many graven images and idols being worshiped by the Gentiles and pagans in Rome and Greece and Egypt and was already spreading.

In the case of the Divine Name of the Creator God, the Jews or Israelites were using the four consonant Hebrew letters HWHY (being read from right to left), which is regarded as too sacred by the Hebrews, in their prayer with the one praying supplying the vowels but no one can ever know how they exactly pronounced the Divine Name of God, therefore they just retained the four consonant letters and nobody dared to add any vowel. However in the latter medieval centuries a group of Bible translators known as the Masoretes dared added vowels to this 4-consonant Hebrew letters and they came up with the word "Jehova" which was not the true and real Divine Name of the Creator God. The Jews or Israelites used the Hebrew word "Adonai" meaning "Lord" or "Elohim" meaning "God". The Greek translators used the word "Kyrios" for the Name of God. In Latin the word "Dominus". The use of any other proper name for the only Creator God, as though there exist any other gods from whom the only true God had to be differentiated was discontinued when Judaism was organized by the Jews or Israelites when the Christian era was developed with the Lord Jesus Christ as the source of the light or gospel of the group who were called to be holy. Judaism attempted and succeeded to liberate the use of any name for the Creator God. This is the main reason why there is now the use of many names to represent the only Creator God and this includes your group which is moving heaven and earth to justify the name of your religious group. This exist because of the so-called "religious freedom" being practiced specially at present.

No one said He is an idol of metal, wood, or stone. God is no longer invisible to us because He became man and redeemed the physical world. Iconography bears witness to the miracle of the Incarnation. We don't "worship" Icons. Do you worship your mother or wife or children whenever you kiss them or show them mutual signs of affection? No. So why can't Protestants distinguish between reverence and worship?

Good point. That is why true Christians have nothing to do with pagan images like this one:

We do not bow to them or use them in any sort of publications.

Only the Catholic church does such things, but they claim they don't worship, only venerate such things
