Agar and petri dishes?

Hi! So I'm doing a science fair experiment with hand sanitizer, bacteria, Petri dishes... etc. When I order the Petri dish, is the agar already going to be in the Petri dish or do I have to prepare it myself. If it comes separately, how do I prepare the Petri dish?

Depends on what you type of bacteria you would like to grow. The agar is just a solid surface to grow the bugs on. You will need to provide nutrients as well.

I think you can order it either way; hang on I'll look.

[edit] Yeah, you can order them prepared. I would suggest it because pouring sterile plates requires some practice. See the link below.
