You could choose the benefit reforms that are being brought in now and pontificate on whether it is fair that some people on benefits get more money (including their rent and rates being paid) than people who are working.
Or you could write about the conflict in Egypt, President Morsi was elected on the desire for a secular and democratic government only to start pursuing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood by bringing in more and more islamification instead of attending to the economic and social issues he was elected for, this is why there was another revolt and he was deposed by the Egyptian army!

Look at issues such as the bedroom tax, UK military involvement in Syria, benefit reforms, issues surrounding immigration, etc. just some ideas from the UK
