Why do some if not most christians act so unlike Jesus Christ?

As often as not, their understanding of the New Testament in particular, and of Christianity in general, is not world's best, and they see both the religion and the church as authority structures in which they have a place above the hordes of the profane.

Then, many of them are actually only notional christians - monsters like Thatcher spring to mind - and they see claiming allegiance to christianity as necessary to their climbing some or other social or political ladder.

Then, of course, there are those who are simply mad (Blair and the unhinged chief of police James Anderton spring to mind), and usually very unpleasantly so.

And I think all of this becomes more obvious when the person in question is in a position of power. There are few managers more unchristian in character than the ones who claim to be christians.

And yet you would get upset when people practice Christian values such as helping the poor. Not by writing a check, but getting in there and serving food or repairing homes. Do you do that, or do you just ***** about others doing it.

The responses by people here, who know nothing about Christianity are quite funny.

I agree. The church has more money in Oil paintings and gold - if they sold them they could feed the starving and pay for the whole of the Philippines disaster. But also you dont have to be religious to hold to the qualities of Jesus Sermon on The Mount.

I will admit I could be a better Christian. Atleast I don't act like I'm holier then thou.
