Update:

Wow that's cold....vessels created with sentience & feeling just to be destroyed......hmm.....fits with the crucifixion thingy though....seems plausible.....

Anybody got any better?

Update 2:

@Don H - I honestly have no clue.....just hear so many peeps on here post this idea so much....it gave me questions I wanted answers to.....

Let's make yours the BQ: And why does the Holy Spirit care if we believe or not?

Update 3:

IF its all about free will, then explain some of the answers here:

Update 4:

@ (((Bill B))) - pretty accurate, just to clarify, the term "hostile mind" was quoted from the question in the link....LOL - I hadn't actually thought of my mind as hostile until I read you answer & I can see that take.

I used to be very hostile, when I first got here years ago. I took my place on the atheist line & flung barbs with the best/worst of them.

I've mellowed....

Update 5:

Thanks....you are so very different than the Christians who have been in my physical world.

Maybe your mind isn't ready to be changed. But I guarantee you that something dramatic will happen in your life at some point that will shake up every belief you have ever known. Leaving room for new ones to emerge. It is often when GOD is found. He will not take us by the neck and drag us to Him. But He will do things to make us look His way. Once we see clearly, we tend to willfully walk towards Him. Because it is imperative that we do so in choice. Any person in this world would choose GOD if they thought they could see Him. But this world seeks to blind and confuse as many as possible from the Truth. And many will remained blinded. But for those who have even the tiniest thought of a possible GOD, they are more likely to see through all the smoke at some point. Are you wise enough to figure it all out?

God's not in the market to force himself on you, it serves no purpose to him. Love isn't love when it's forced. Nor does obedience remain obedience when it's forced. You have an invitation that starts with your free decision to move towards him or away from him and that first step is entirely yours. Initial faith is an act of the will that determines you will believe and open the mind and heart, at which point your journey begins...but those who plant themselves at the start line and demand to see the finish line from there go nowhere because the journey is never that short-sighted and requires steps forward to be taken, repeatedly. Once you begin your journey with him you then see your mind begin a sanctification process of being renewed, it's not a switch that's flipped on or off, and as is the case with every single journey one must continue to move forward to advance at all.

The truth is that God's "purpose" for creation was to be revealed in ALL his glory. Which is precisely why free choice is pertinent because if everyone chose to accept him we would only see a part of him revealed, whereas those who reject him actually DO serve his purpose by revealing a whole other side of him that would otherwise not be revealed.

Hostility is also an act of determined will...it's YOUR duty to change that, no one else's. Every individual determines for themselves whether they will be gracious or hostile, unkind or kind, etc...it's a child who blames their own conduct on others and refuses to take personal responsibility. Regardless though, all people do in fact serve God's purpose in revealing a new side of him otherwise left veiled...it's a perfect and beautifully orchestrated paradox.

Well the bible says something about free will to believe yet then follows up with if you don't belive you will die a horrible death and be condemed to hell and what not.

So I say it contradicts each other, that Christianity is like a guy with a gun to your back do what I say or Die and if you don't do it good enough you still go to Hell and all Christians have Stolkholme Syndrome

  • Maybe He will eventually, and if not then your purpose is to be a vessel of wrath that was prepared for destruction as a demonstration of God's attribute of justice.

i agree with your angle, organized religion frustrates me in that, they are so narrow minded that they think their way is the only possible way. and i f you don't believe in their way, you are rendered an outcast among society. social club, that's all it is, sell out and join our club. BY THE WAY........MOUNTAIN DELIVERED GOODS- you sir, are an inept, judgmental, narrow minded tool who clearly has been brought up/educated improperly as to the ways of this world. where do you get off passing the judgment you pass? who do you think you are, some sort of fictional disciple of a fictional jesus? get off your high horse.

Free Will - they call it. Take responsibility for your own beliefs.

He gives everyone a chance to do so, when you feel like God is pulling you accept Him. Then you will see why Christians believe what we do.

By calling you "hostile" they are feeding their own victim mentality. In the past they would attack you pretending to be doing so in self defense. They cannot be trusted.

Source(s): The other name for victim mentality is paranoia.
