Do egg allergies include all eggs?
My mum is allergic to chicken eggs. She's gotten to the point where she can no longer eat a chicken egg as a staple or as an ingredient. She also has a reaction if it's included in medications or coatings.
I'm curious to find out if anyone knows whether an egg allergy includes all egg types or could she possibly fair better with the eggs of another bird?
Also, if she can eat for example a duck egg, can duck eggs be used in place of chicken eggs for things such as cakes, sauces and coatings, etc?
Thank you for your help. x
I was just wondering if anyone had had any experience with it. Not looking for medical advice.

I am allergic to chicken eggs also. I tried a goose egg and got sick just as much as from a chicken egg. I think any bird eggs would cause a reaction.
In cooking, use powdered egg replacer. It is made by Ener-G and is found at some grocery and most health food stores. A box costs approx. $6 and replaces over 100 eggs, so it is actually cheaper than eggs. It is made from potato starch and tapioca flour.

Do not give/follow medical advice or prescribe/take medications or supplements over the internet. Serious health complications or death could result!
Mother should contact her doctor, request epi-pen from doctor for emergencies. Ask for referral to dietitian for acceptable egg free diet management. No Flu shots - they are egg based- so ask Doctor if records can show she should get antiviral RX with just calling in if she gets flu. Some Docs will do this others want you to come in. But only if she is not allergic to antivirals.
Bird species are all so similar it would be unlikely to find one's rggs she is not allergic to. Maybe turtle eggs or other non-bird species would be ok, BUT ITS NOT WORTH THE RISK EVER!!!

YA is **not** the place for reliable medical advice. Your mother should talk to a health professional.
