I have an pension that comes to about 15000 American dollars per year.?

Once I'm old enough for social security I'll get another 16000 American dollars. What I'd like to know is

can I live in Seoul on 15000 American per year? About how much could I expect to pay for rent?

Update:

I can't believe this,no I do not have to reside in the US to collect my private pension and South Korea

has a reciprocal agreement with the US regarding SS when I reach that age.

Update 2:

But I would like to hear specific money amounts. And please if possible use US dollars when for instance telling me how much an apartment costs. Thanx.

You might wait till you get Social Security.

Try outgoing@expatexchange.net. You may be able to get better answers from people who actually have chosen S. Korea as their place to retire. $2500 USD/month well exceeds the minimum required monthly income in many countries, and, yes, you can collect those types of incomes anywhere in the world. You will give up, however, things like Medicare/Medicaid but can return to the US for precedes if not an emergency.

The question you should be asking yourself is "Do I have to reside in my own country to be eligable to collect my pension"?
