Your favorite adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol?

There are many adaptations, like the one Alastair Sims, the cartoon ones, Jim Carrey, etc.

My favorite is a tie between the Sims and Patrick Stewart version. Great portrayal of Scrooge in both of them. Simply amazing.

How about you?

Oh boy 'A Christmas Carol'. I am soooo picky when it comes to the adaptations. I love the the novella and after reading it I have had pretty high standards. Not a fan of the Jim Carrey version (to be honest it kind of scared me lol). I will give the Alastair Sims version a shot. Just found the full movie on YouTube! I will be back with my review =P

My Review: Well, frankly my dear I'm impressed. I was skeptical at first but I actually felt it was faithful to the spirit of the book. Alastair Sims played Scrooge beautifully and I love how giddy he was at the end. It felt authentic and exactly how I pictured Scrooge to act. I also loved that it was in black and white. Sometimes black and white seems to strengthen the film for me (is that weird?). Overall I think I am comfortable to say that this is now my favorite rendition of "A Christmas Carol". Thanks for sharing with me movie buddy! =D

1951 Alistair Sims version. It oozes Dickens and Sims is absolutely brilliant as Scrooge.

Jim Carey straight out copied Sims' performance line by line, for the terrible Zemeckis animated version. He said in an interview he drew "inspiration" from Sims. Honestly he should be embarrassed by what he did.
