Would these trade scenarios for Matt Kemp be logical?

I'm sure you've heard that Matt Kemp is on the trade block, but I have been thinking about who would the Dodgers get in return if they traded Kemp to 1 of these 3 teams.

Scenario #1

Detroit gets Matt Kemp

Dodgers get Andy Dirks, Phil Coke, and perhaps two other prospects. By acquiring Dirks the Dodgers get a solid left handed bat for their OF. Bringing Coke to L.A. gives the Dodgers a second LHP option for their bullpen to go along Paco Rodriguez. The other prospect or two would be a throw to match up the money.

Scenario #2

Boston gets Matt Kemp

Dodgers get Boegarts, Lavarnway, a pitcher from their bullpen (Breslow or Miller), and a prospect.

Boegarts solves the SS/3B issue the Dodgers currently have. By acquiring Boegarts, the Dodgers will have a SS for the future that will allow Hanley to move to 3B and thus could prevent future lingering injuries he has had last season. Lavarnway would potentially be the Dodgers' future starting catcher with AJ Ellis getting older. Lavarnway could compete w/ FedEx for the backup catcher role and who ever plays the best would get the backup spot. Breslow or Miller would be a situational lefty/middle reliever.

Scenario #3

Seattle gets Matt Kemp

Dodgers get Tijuan Walker, Nick Franklin, and a prospect or two.

Walker is Seattle's #1 prospect and would instantly be put into the rotation. Franklin would either start at 2B or 3B (most likely 3B w/ the arrival of Alex Guerrero), and prospect(s) is a throw in.

You forget that Colletti is in the driver's seat and that he would nix all of these scenarios.

Colletti is not going to give away Kemp for prospects because next season's version of Kemp is going to be a monster and that is a given, Otherwise he would have already moved Kemp

    .

We are talking about Mr. Shrewd here and I do mean Colletti.

Scenario one is out. The Dodgers don't want a solid left handed bat for their outfield. They already have Andre Ethier for that. Additionally, they have 4 starting outfielders already (counting Kemp) and another extremely talented prospect in their system, who is ready for a call-up (Joc Pederson). Using Dirks as the centerpiece for that trade just doesn't make sense.

Scenario 2 is more feasible, but still not optimal. Between Cory Seager and Alexander Guerrero, the Dodgers have a SS/3B and a 2B already in the minors waiting for their own call-ups. Both have far more upside than Boegarts. Lavarnway however would be a nice pickup, at the very least a solid backup, if not an outright replacement for Ellis (who has been better than expected).

Scenario 3 I like the best. The Dodgers are always hungry for more pitchers, and giving Franklin a shot wouldn't hurt either. Definitely this is where I would turn as a GM, if the Mariners were willing to deal Tijuan Walker.

#1 isn't good for Dodgers (unless you want to be more specific on the prospects). The Dodgers have a better LH bat in their OF already, named Andre Ethier. Prospects don't help match up money, since they cost almost nothing.

#2 is dream world, Boston isn't trading Bogaerts for anyone, let alone an aging often injured OF. Let alone add in Lavarnway and two other guys. Bogaerts for Kemp straight up would be a MASSIVELY bad deal for the Sox.

#3 is dream world. Mariners would never give up Walker in such a deal. Again, Walker for Kemp straight up would be a horrible deal for Seattle. Let alone add in a value piece in Franklin and additional prospects? LAD already have more SP than rotation spots as it is.

You are massively off base for deals 2 and 3, would never happen in a million years. #1 doesn't get enough in return IMO, but it's not terrible.

I can't speak for the first two because I don't really know as much about their organizations and prospects, but I can tell you as a Mariners fan, that I don't think Matt Kemp's worth Tijuan Walker alone. The guy's had one outstanding year, and the rest of the time, he's played decent when he's been healthy which is infrequent. I think if Los Angeles is willing to eat the contract, then you're going to have to give up too much to get him. Plus I've heard rumors about the Royals being interested in trading Billy Butler for Nick Franklin straight up. I'd much rather give up Franklin, have Butler and still have Walker than give up both and have Matt Kemp.

You seem to be badly over-estimating Kemp's trade value. He's a good, but not great, player with a horrible contract.

Scenario #1 is possible. It'd mostly be a salary dump for the Dodgers. Which isn't a bad thing.

Scenario #2 is less likely. But still possible.

Scenario #3 isn't going to happen. The Mariners wouldn't even trade Walker alone for Kemp.

The Mariners are built off their prospects, trading Franklin would make sense, but the Mariners have already said they won't trade Walker. And I don't think they would trade 4 players, including 3 prospects to take on a big contract and a make it or break it bat.

I don't believe the Dodgers would do any of your above deals. Simply not enough for a player such as Matt Kemp. A healthy Kemp is one of the best players in the game and the Dodgers are not going to give him away.

I think Scenario 3 is the most likely to happen of these 3, Seatle would be a playoff team then if they got Kemp
