It would be far more shocking if he didn't make the team than if he did. Clearly he is one of the top 12 forwards the American squad has to offer and it doesn't hurt that he is a likely linemate for Kessel.

I am guessing you are referring to one Jason Blake. Age played a factor along with health issues when team USA announced their roster.

Personally he has the production, skating ability that translates to the bigger ice surface, and the ability to get the close-in goals (he's better at it than David Clarkson) that probably puts him on the plane. Kessel is a lock. He's been consistent and can play with several forwards (he's been consistent most of the year).

I'd honestly put him as a top-six forward at Sochi, since being traded from the Flyers, JVR had flourished with the Maple Leafs.

I think he'll play great at the international level. He'll fit right in with kessel and a potential playmaker
