My Voice is different when recorded and when heard normally?
So, I can sing. I am not trying to brag out or anything but I can really sing good. I've been trying to record myself with my Sony xperia s and each time I do it, my voice comes out really different than usually heard with ear. So, I've got a bit popularity for my singing on my school, people started to praise and all that stuff. So I've decided to make covers for YouTube but my voice is bad and different. I don't know if it's the microphone or anything other. Please help me. What should I use to make covers?

How a person sounds to him/herself is different than a recording is because sound resonates differently in your head. In a way you are listening to your sounds from the inside of your head as well as what you are projecting from your throat. What you hear in a recording of your own voice is the truth of what others are hearing. If it doesn't sound good in the recording, I'm afraid you are not sounding good. But, best of luck to you.

It isn't the microphone. How you sound when you hear a recording of your voice is how you sound to other people.
Lots of people think that they are brilliant singers and then record themselves and hear the truth. What you are hearing in the recording is how you sing. What you hear yourself when you sing is not what anyone else hears.
So if the people who are praising your singing are your friends you can now see that they were just trying not to be mean to you, that is what real friends are for.
You have now found out why people have singing lessons. The singing lessons teach you how to sing with correct techniques. It takes several years to learn how to sing properly because there is a lot that you have to learn. Singing isn't just about starting to sing and expecting to sound fantastic. Really good singers have spent years and year at lessons and working hard to learn how to sound good. If you wish to improve how you sound you will need to have some offline singing lessons.

Your phone doesnt have a good quality recorder, use a voice recorder, or a good video cam for your youtube vids, you will never think your voice sounds exactly the same. its just the way our brains work...

What you hear in your own ear while you're singing lacks the overtones as it leaves your mouth. That's why it sounds different.
