You do need to call your insurance company because, without knowing all the facts, the other guy's company will expect yours to pay. Many times looking at where the damage is on the vehicles tells what really happened and who was at fault. For instance, if our cars collided while we were going in different directions (one of us turning) and if the damage is in the front of the car where my front hit yours as opposed to the rear half of car, then you could well be at fault since I was probably too close to you when you made the turn. If we'd hit at the second half of the car, then I'm probably at fault since you were a good way into your turn when I hit you. It doesn't matter what the light says necessarily. I should have stopped when I saw you in the intersection whether I had the green light or not. Many times it's decided on who had the last best chance to avoid the collision.
