If I live in Wisconsin but collect unemployment from Illinois, which state do I file my taxes in?

    One nonresident state income tax return and your resident state income tax return. during the 2014 tax filing season for the 2013 tax year.

    You file your 'state' tax return for Illinois and 'federal' tax return from where you live.

    You would file in both states a state form. Many states have a supplemental addendum form in which you can file one form in your state that declares both state's taxes.
