Should i become a SM Ent. trainee or Cube Ent. trainee?
ok the next few questions will be very plenty and i hope that you guys can answer it all to help me with it. hi ! i'm 18 this year and i've been liking KPOP since i was 14 and my actual dream was to become a successful fashion designer and that dream is still stands however, since i started to liked KPOP,i decided to be an idol and experience the world my self. i have a few plan and i need your advice/honest opinion/answer on the upcoming questions k ?
1.i decided to go on the SM Global Audition which one of their stops are at Jakarta,Indonesia and i lived in Malaysia but first i want to get my own diploma which if i do my best i'll be graduate at my early 21 so if they're still holding the audition at the same place,i'll have to fly to Jakarta myself and audition there since it's close and i can still 'survive' in Indonesia.if i audition there and if i get accepted, they'll pay for my expenses to Korea right (from what i read) but do i have to go to Indonesia and fly with the other chosen people or they'll just ask me to fly from Malaysia ? (if they come to Indonesia and Thailand, they'll probably most likely will come to Malaysia too right ? i hope they will)
2.after if i get accepted, does that means i'm an official trainee already and have to sign the contract or do i have to go through another audition at the same place i've auditioned or in Korea ?
3.i've read some people drop themselves out from being a trainee.do i have to pay to the company (i heard some people have to pay for it) if i wish to do so if i'm already a trainee ?
4.what type of trainee in SM like 'official',''project trainee' or something ?
5.since i can be considered old to be a trainee if i get accepted and become a trainee at my 21,i've decided if i'm not close to debut soon (because of the though competition with other trainees) in the same/next year,i want to move to become a Cube Entertainment trainee cause i heard that they respect and nice to their trainees and the competition is not that though like SM. i heard that they want to look for passion and i think i have that cause i like dancing and my singing i think is on the average level ? but i can still sing high pitch songs. can i drop myself out and become a Cube trainee just like that ? cause i'm setting my goal on debut by my 23/24 year.(i know,i'ts a bit old.hehe)
5.if i want to audition for Cube, how are the procedures (from the really beginning of the process,in the audition room, what you have to do and other stuffs) ?
6.if i don't what to audition for SM global audition and go through hell-of-a-crap up there and just fly myself to korea and audition at the Cube itself, what advice/s can you give to me to survive there in Korea other than learning basic korean cause i don't want to burden my self and look like a complete idiot when i get there ?
7.also,i'm a muslim so we all muslims have to perform prayers 5 time a day (before sunrise, afternoon, evening, sunset, night). so, like i've mention above,if they respect their trainees and in addition this is a religion matter, will they give like around 10 mins break for each prayer period to perform them (cause it's usually around 10 min more/less) ? also foods.i don't mind being a vegetarian since i't's a bit hard to find halal foods in korea if you're new and don't know where to find the right places.will they take care of my foods ?
8.will there be dorm for foreigner trainees at Cube ?
9.should i fly myself to korea and audition for Cube or should use the first plan (the SM plan) ?
10.i can speak fluent Malay,English and still learning Mandarin and Japanese.will that benefit me and rises my chances to debut faster ? also i'm a Malay-Chinese.
11.i can be a fast learner or discover a new skill every time i'm a hard situation (i think everyone can),so being a trainee is though so i think i can endure that toughness.should i go for it ?
12.i can dance some SNSD's,SUJU's,BTOB's,SHINee's etc.i also can free dance.dancing and singing is not that hard for me but it's just if i go to Cube they'll have weekly/monthly (?) evaluation right ? so that is a bit something for me. hehe
13.other info that i need to know about Cube ?
14.trainee life at Cube if i got accepted ?
i really appreciate if you guys could answer all these question sincerely and with the right info. thanks !
15.and also, how did BTOB Peniel drop himself out from JYP and enter Cube ?
16.will they ask me to dye my black hair into other color ? cause my religion prohibit its followers to do so.

if u want to be k-idol, u have to put ur religion aside coz trainee life is very hard, and i think they wont allow u to pray. and think it over u guys has to puasa. and as an idol is very. i dont think u can make it... please dont be offend fpr what i told... and u must at least has chinese blood to enter those big company...
Source(s): hope u dont get offended fpr what i told u, i just stating the truth... hope u understand it... :) - Anonymous7 years ago
You can try, I mean there's nothing to lose, But there's a low chance because:
1. you're already at an older age. 18 is young, but not for kpop company. They prefer people aged 11-17.... Usually the max is 19 years old, so you don't have much time anyways.
2. You are not korean, chinese and/or thai. JYP would probably be the best choice for you since they are more open to other asians.
Anyways,
1. I don't know.
2. If you get sent to korea, It doesn't mean you're already an official trainee, it just means now you have to go through even harder auditions infront of the more inportant company judges and then they decide wether they want you or not.
3. Im going to assume that you have to pay... Especially if you were there for a long time.
4. I don't understand what you mean... SM has hundreds of trainees probably. Nothing makes you an "official" trainee. they can drop you out whenever they like.
5. Search up youtube videos. theres hundreds of people who have auditioned for cube and explain it step by step.
6. I don't have much advice except learn the customs. You don't want to be disrespectful.
7. Im pretty sure companys respect the fact that you have religious rituals you need to do. I think they will allow it!
8. There is not foreigner dorm. If youre foreign, they want you to learn korean as quickly as possible, so they wouldn't let you be with people who speak your own language.
9. Can't you do both?
10. Why aren't you learning korean?.... those languages may benefit you LATER. but focus on korean.
11. It's tougher than you think. you are basically giving your life up. but go for it if you want.
12. I dont' get your question lol... yes they have monthly evaluations. Your group of trainees will help you, but do know that as soon as you slack, they cut you off easily.
13. I'd suggest you audition for cube rather than sm.
14. Not just at cube, but trainee life is incredibly difficult.
15. What do you mean how? I'm pretty sure jyp kicked him out and cube picked him up. Usually that happens, expecially with yg and jyp trainees. whenever they get kicked out, another company picks them up.
16. Honestly, Although it sucks, they might not even want to make you a trainee bc of that simple fact... you never see a girl group with just black hair. But im sure that if they really wanted you, you could work it out...
All in all, I advice you to just live your life. there's a 0.000000000001% chance you'll be a trainee... you make it sound easy but it's nearly impossible becoming a trainee at any relevant company, and even more impossible becoming an idol. companys drop hundreds of trainees every year......
unless you're already talented, very very pretty and/or korean, i wouldnt advice anything...

To sum up all your questions into a simple answer; it's all about HARD WORK.
I CANNOT stress that enough; it is all about HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.
that means you'll have no connections to any of your friends OR your family.
You will risk high discrimination as a trainee in South Korea.
AND not to mention the chance of you getting even picked in the first place is very low.
Hundreds of trainees drop out during the first few months of their training.
Entertainment companies are very strict about their trainees.
Even religion would have to be put aside, i understand a Muslim has very strict prayer times and such but those things would have to be put aside.
You'll be put to work nearly 24/7 every day and there will be other trainees vying for a chance to debut.
As a trainee, you will be put on a diet based on how they see your weight; they'll even RECOMMEND plastic surgery for you if needed.
You'll be observed for your performance as a trainee; they want to see;
passion
posture
age
language (you should be fluent in Korean, if not, they'll have classes for you to take)
lessons; from dancing lessons, to vocal lessons and everything in between
Singing
Dance
Brave; do you have the guts to withstand the pressure
no make up; the company wants to see you naturally so that they know what needs change or what is to their standard
hair; do not style your hair, companies want it NATURAL
you will have to be VERY patient and driven and determined to choose this life
Koreans have the highest chance to making it, Asian next, and I’m sorry to say that other races have the lower chance in most companies. (Please understand that this is not my PERSONAL thought as I believe people should be able to be accepted regardless of race, but life is tough)
a small matter but IF by any chance you do make it, any social networks you have must be deactivated. you will probably have little to no contact with anyone except for the trainees you're training with.
I know that in SM, there is a talent show they have fort trainees to compete with each other in. Know that everyone is EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE and it is understandable.
As for your question of dying your hair, during life as a trainee, i don't think that's required, but once you debut, you SHOULD know that a K POP artist's hair is always different, so DYING your hair is a MUST whether you like it or not.
ELECTRONICS. You can have the internet, your phone, Ipod, etc. Pretty much the only rule is no social networking
rule is no social networking.
DON’T WORRY
Companies can fix a large number of things if it is a slight problem. However, they will not do this for everyone.
1. SKIN TONE. For those who are a little tan, and let me emphasize LITTLE, make up can help!
2. HEIGHT. Heels and insoles are used a lot by idols. Super Junior often uses insoles, so don’t worry guys!
3. WEIGHT. Exercising and dieting are going to be thrown at you.
4. LOOKS. Slight things like double eye lid surgery is common. Nose and jaw work is a bit less but they will do it occasionally. Same with cheek bones. Also, make up can do magic!
5. MUSCLES. Dudes, there’s a gym just waiting for you. And for everyone, dancing is definitely going to help build up your muscles and your strength.
DEBUT
It’s going to take some time for a career to take shape. Also, be warned that there is very little time for rest and IMMENSE pressure and stress placed upon you.
I suggest you THINK about this carefully.
Source(s): i've always wanted to be a trainee until this article deterred me from it. I'm as determined as you are to make it (i'm half Viet/Chinese) but thinking about it, if you don't make it after all those years preparing for it, wouldn't it be a waste? I wanted to use the article as source for you but i couldn't so i simply summarized it using my own words - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

I'd say SM!
It's more guaranteed!
But the most important thing is how hard you try!
Good luck! :D

Neither. It's a waste of time and you don't have any chance.
