Well, who were you invited with?
If your invite just says "Adria Smith," then you're not invited with a guest and you ought to be attending alone anyway.
If your invite says, "Adria Smith and Thomas Jones" (Thomas being your boyfriend), then he is the only person you'd be allowed to bring. If he cannot make it, then you are not allowed to substitute someone in his place.
If your invite says, "Adria Smith and Guest," then you are allowed to bring one person of your choosing. If your boyfriend cannot make it, then you are free to bring someone else, attend alone, or not attend at all.
If it was a close friend's wedding and my husband could not attend, I'd still go. I'd only decline if it was someone to whom I wasn't close, and if my husband and I were iffy on attending anyway if we could have gone together. I wouldn't decline a social event I wanted to attend, just because he wouldn't be there.

How many people at the wedding will you know?
If your best friend is in the wedding, you'll be on your own for the ceremony, and maybe the beginning part of the reception, but you'll be able to stick with her for the rest of the night.
If you feel comfortable being friendly and talking to whoever when you sit down to eat.
I'd say go ahead and go, if you feel up to it.
At my wedding, I had invited a number of people who I went to college with. None of them were from in town, so since I had assigned seats, I put them altogether, since most of them came alone and wouldn't know anyone else there.

If it's your best friend you should be crawling there with broken legs if you have to never mind worrying about being alone. You will probably be so busy making sure everything is in order that you won't need another person to accompany you.

Assuming you were invited, you can go alone. A lot of. People show up without a date.

Defiantly don't go alone. If you got other friends who aren't busy, ask them to go with you to the wedding.
