Do you agree with Jay Carney that people should thank Obama that they are not "trapped in a job?"?

White House: It's A Good Thing That Obamacare Will Drive 2.5 Million Americans Out Of The Workforce

2/05/2014

'Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that 2.5 million Americans leaving the workforce was a good thing, because they would no longer be “trapped in a job.”

'The new, larger estimate of the law’s negative impact on the labor force derives from three factors: (1) Obamacare’s employer mandate, which will discourage hiring and reduce wages offered by employers; (2) Obamacare’s $1 trillion in tax increases, which will discourage work and depress economic growth; and (3) the law’s $2 trillion in subsidies for low-income individuals, which will discourage many from remaining in the labor force.

'“Over the longer run, CBO finds that because of this law, individuals will be empowered to make choices about their own lives and livelihoods, like retiring on time rather than working into their elderly years or choosing to spend more time with their families. At the beginning of this year, we noted that as part of this new day in health care, Americans would no longer be trapped in a job just to provide coverage for their families, and would have the opportunity to pursue their dreams."

'Bored with your job? No worries—now you can quit, thanks to the generosity of other taxpayers. Want to retire early? No worries—now you can, thanks to the generosity of other taxpayers, and also thanks to the higher premiums that young people will be forced to pay on your behalf. The White House’s apparently sincere belief—echoed by progressive pundits at MSNBC, The New Republic, and the L.A. Times—is that it’s a good thing for fewer Americans to be economically self-sufficient.

'If you’re one of the chumps out there who still toils away at a challenging job, and still pays taxes so that others can “pursue their dreams,” you have a right to resent the White House’s argument. ...Participation in the labor force was already declining, thanks to the poor economy and the retirement of the Baby Boomers. Obamacare, it appears, will accelerate that process, forcing fewer and fewer taxpayers to support a greater number of government beneficiaries.'

Update:

Daddio, when he accepted a job as spokesman for the Obama regime, I think it was a given that he understood he would necessarily have to look stupid on a regular basis.

That's what he gets paid the big bucks for.

Obama loves making his little white boy look stupid.

I know a few people who would love to be "trapped" in a job with benefits.

I wonder who is going to pay the bills when everyone is working part time, or not at all?

Those light bulbs were produced in Kentucky, someone did away with those jobs and started buying them from China. Most people do not know that you aren't supposed to throw those in the trash and whatever you do, don't break one in your house, they are loaded with Mercury. Wait until you see what they want to know on the census and what you have to do to sell a house now. This is just the tip of the iceberg. We better shut down our power stations and save the planet while China is cranking out 5 times the pollutants we are and all to sell us more tainted junk.

FACT CHECK: Anti-Obamacare chorus is off key

The study estimates that the workforce will be reduced by the equivalent of 2.3 million full-time workers by 2021 as people choose to leave it. More would take early retirement, work fewer hours or otherwise rearrange their work-home balance to take advantage of new subsidies for health insurance and new markets for individual policies that don't depend on having a job.

In a key point overlooked in the GOP response, the report says: "The estimated reduction stems almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, rather than from a net drop in businesses' demand for labor."

In other words, workers aren't being laid off. They are taking themselves out of the workforce, in many cases opening job opportunities for others.

Paul Ryan corrects Republicans on Obamacare job 'Costs'

"At least one Republican is setting the record straight on what the Congressional Budget Office actually said this week about Obamacare and its effect on jobs.

House Budget Chair Paul Ryan (R-WI) explained in a Wednesday hearing with CBO director Steven Elmendorf that the health care reform law wouldn't cost the U.S. economy more than 2 million jobs, as many of his colleagues alleged, but that Americans would choose to work less.

"I want to make sure we accurately understand what it is you are saying," Ryan said, before leading Elmendorf through a series of questions to explain the report and its findings."

In a way, I feel for jay Carney.

He appears to be a guy who knows the difference between fact and BS,

However , his career is on the line . and if he eventually wants to get a cushy job on PMSNBC or CNN ( Clinton news network) he has to be a loyal Obama lapdog.

unless he is a mouthpiece for the usual Obama BS, he will be out in the cold once Obama is gone and he will have to get a Real job.

obama doesn't want Americans to work, he wants them to take a hand out courtesy of the rich. It is sad how obama's policies are literally killing the productivity of a nation. He will answer for it at the throne of God.

It'll mean effectively 2.5 million more job openings.
