Would you only include players inducted "as" a member of said team? Because otherwise, the Braves could have Babe Ruth on their team, for instance.

And what do you do if a team doesn't "have" a HOF player at a position? For instance, there are no third basemen inducted into the HOF as Yankees; would you include the best 3B in Yankee history? Could you put somebody there because they played some games at 3B while with the Yankees? Could you just "put" someone in there? Would you just put Wade Boggs, despite his being in the Hall as a Red Sox player?

Anyway, I'd say the New York/San Francisco Giants [they'd have much better pitching than the Yankees], Chicago Cubs*, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates could all field good teams. And considering even the 1927 Yankees lost 44 games, and lost to the awful 51-103 Red Sox "4" times, any of these teams 'could' beat that Yankees team.

If the A's could make a team of HOFers who are or "should be" in the Hall as A's, they'd have an epic team. (Mickey Cochrane is in as a Tiger, but he played 79% of his career in Philadelphia; Jimmie Foxx is in as a Red Sock, but he played 54% of his career in Philadelphia; Lefty Grove is in as a Red Sock, but played 65% of his career in Philadelphia; Catfish Hunter isn't in as anything, but played 72% of his career with the A's; Reggie Jackson's in as a Yankee, but he played almost half his career with the A's, far more than with the Yankees, etc.)

Edit: If you include "legendary" players, which I would take as meaning you could include any player based on their performance with that team, then you could "definitely" create a few franchise teams that could probably beat the Yankees'.

Nope you are correct. You could assemble the best players in history from all teams and they would still not beat the legendary Yankees. The Yankees have the most historic and successfull past. Thats just the way it is. The proof is in the pudding. 27 rings. Anyone close? Nope.

Anyways, no my team couldn't do that, they've had some good players over the years but if we were to stack them up against the Yankees greatest players we'd lose.
