There is no reason to believe Jesus would oppose sporting events. The achievement of Olympic athletes exemplify the powers of the body God designed, as well as the intelligence and discipline to develop world-class skills.
On the other hand, sports competitions are not the primary purpose of our existence. We are made to know, love, and serve God, and our efforts should primarily be devoted to learning the truth, helping others learn the truth, and carrying out works of charity to help those in need. Our ultimate quest is to live with God forever, not to be the fast skier or skater.
Cheers,
Bruce

It's an event of worldly people and Jesus said that his followers are not to be of the world.
See: 1 John 2:15, James 4:4, John 17:16.
