Whats the difference between Doom and Sludge Metal?
I thought they were the same thing but apparently this isnt the case.

Take Doom Metal, add some Southern Rock and a dash of hardcore punk influence, and you have Sludge
Listen to the Melvins, Neurosis, Pelican, etc...

For what it's worth (coming from a bloke who has NO idea!) many of the actual bands don't know. They just write and play the music, it seems to get categorised afterwards.
