Why is the only major news agency coving this story is FOX?

Use this Google search link -https://www.google.com/#q=Government+Monitors+in+N...

As of the search I did just now, the only news agencies coving this story is FOX and "ChrismaNews". Why?

Update:

I find it really sad that the first 12 people who answerd obviously didn't even look at the breaking story. Or if they did, accepted the fact that Obama was setting up the infastructure to turn news agencies from news agencies to propgonda fonts.

You forget to mention that it’s a “study,” and that anyone in the news business may CHOOSE to not participate.

    END OF YOUR LIE.

    Nice try, though.

This is the Fox News story source:

    http://transition.fcc.gov/bureaus/ocbo/FCC_Final_R...

To all the haters of Fox News, they do have a point. I do not understand how when Bush was in office, he was abusing his power. However, you let Obama administration slide on worse abuses. They are no different. Our government is out of control and unless the people work together, we will all live under oppression.

Please read the PDF and read it as a Republican was the President. Why is the FCC doing this study? It should bother everybody (left and right). I do see this as a way to mutilate the media. Either by what Fox is reporting or to get your reaction to control the message. For example, let say they want to get elected. They can all of a sudden push minimum wage at a time that would help them in November.

How do they better control their message? This administration feels it needs to tell us what is important. Do not worry about the failure of Obama care web site. Worry about minimum wage. Do not believe the CBO report that says it will cause people to lose their jobs.

For the left wingers, remember "Wag the Dog" with Dustin Hoffman. This is no different.

    What do these statements mean?

Do the tools/templates demonstrate a high degree of internal validity? Do the

tools/templates demonstrate a high degree of reliability across diverse target markets?

In order to tap into not only individual level effects, but also neighborhood effects, we will conduct in-depth

interviews with individuals in diverse neighborhoods (determined utilizing census tract data) (n=504).

Because maybe this scare tactic is working even without having to be implemented.. The thought of losing your communications license can be disturbing.. Look, FOX news is almost as bad as the Drudge report, only their misleading headlines aren't anything CLOSE to Drudge's but, this would be a violation of the 1st amendment BIGTIME... Do I enjoy FOX and Drudge? NO, do I think they have a right to freedom of press and should be protected under the first amendment? You ****** A I do... Next, they'll be telling us what we can and cannot eat!... I am an independent and damn proud of it.. I do not have to toe the party line.. I do not have to adopt an agenda even if it is wrong.. The fairness doctrine went Pfff, and if CIN goes Pfff, they'll try it again on a different generation until it works... That is how we got here.. They are patient and can keep widdling away slowly at our rights so we don't notice, generation after generation until they get what they want.. We're almost there but, I think they may have underestimated OUR patience..

I think you might be onto something. There is something real to be concerned about.

Fox and the right wing media are the only ones covering it. So it makes it seem fake. Pat Robertson's American Center for Law and Justice is also pushing it so that makes it seem fake too.

There is a thread discussing it on snopes but there is no conclusion really.

But Ajit Pai is an FCC commissioner and he wrote a Wall Street Journal Op Ed saying there are serious concerns here. So that ought to warrant at least some coverage from the mainstream media.

You can get around the WSJ pay wall if you google the Op Ed title: "The FCC Wades Into the Newsroom" and access it from there.

    Here is a clip...

News organizations often disagree about what Americans need to know. MSNBC, for example, apparently believes that traffic in Fort Lee, N.J., is the crisis of our time. Fox News, on the other hand, chooses to cover the September 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi more heavily than other networks. The American people, for their part, disagree about what they want to watch.

But everyone should agree on this: The government has no place pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories.

Unfortunately, the Federal Communications Commission, where I am a commissioner, does not agree. Last May the FCC proposed an initiative to thrust the federal government into newsrooms across the country. With its "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs," or CIN, the agency plans to send researchers to grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. A field test in Columbia, S.C., is scheduled to begin this spring.

The purpose of the CIN, according to the FCC, is to ferret out information from television and radio broadcasters about "the process by which stories are selected" and how often stations cover "critical information needs," along with "perceived station bias" and "perceived responsiveness to underserved populations."

Why Is the Obama Administration Putting Government Monitors in Newsrooms?

    2/19/2014

'The Obama administration’s Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is poised to place government monitors in newsrooms across the country in an absurdly draconian attempt to intimidate and control the media.'

The best way to impose fascism is bit by bit, backed by the tacit threat of ruthless violence if anybody resists.

EDIT: People seem to be forgetting the AP monitoring scandal.

    http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2013/05/13/...

BREAKING: Obama Justice Department Secretly Monitored AP Reporters' Phone Records

    May 13, 2013

'The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into how news organizations gather the news. The records obtained by the Justice Department listed incoming and outgoing calls, and the duration of each call, for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and the main number for AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP. '

Just the government (FCC) mulling the idea of government monitors in newsrooms are a scary idea. Not bringing this to light is dishonest, biased non-reporting.

Because its another BS story about Obama, which only Fox News would spread… Conservatives can't win elections telling the truth so they have to make up garbage, (i.e.; born in Kenya, being a Muslim, being a Socialist, being a Communist, and anything else that can paint Obama in a bad light.

Probably because it will turn out to be a bunch of hearsay lies and innuendo like everything else Fox reports.

It is not news to other networks yet. If they deem it worthy they will report it.

Funny, how it's only the wing nut news sites reporting this story.

The mainstream media will try to ignore it for as long as they can, like they always do of any stories critical of obama. Then once it can no longer be ignored, they will start covering it
