What kind of dog is this?

The animal shelter said it is a sheperd mix. Any clues if they're accurate and what the other mixes she could be?

She is currently being fostered but I may consider adapting once she becomes old enough, but I don't want a dog that is going to be too big. Thanks.

Here is link to shelters Facebook page to see a really sad pic of her at the shelter. They posted her and her brother wednesday Feb. 19th 2014.

Update:

…adopting

Update 2:

I've owned many dogs, most being mutts and know she will be a great dog, except I'm renting and they only allow small dogs with a 1k deposit which I don't mind.…maybe I can get away with medium, we'll see. Sucks because I have a video of this puppy playing and she is wonderfully happy and listens. Even when excited she tries to sit, then stands on her hind legs for a split second then goes back to sitting with her tail wagging wildly.

It is a mixed breed and the two breeds I see represented in it are pit bull & boxer.

It's definitely not a shepherd mix it has the wrong shape head for that. All I see is a sad wonderful dog that could make a person a wonderful companion for life. Does a dog have to look special to be adopted by any person. I have friends who have taken on very plain dogs they make the owner happy you can't beat a mutt for a long healthy life they are also very loyal.

I don't think this dog will be big as in a Great Dane she's just a dog with the most lovely eyes anyone would be proud to own her.

That is an American Pit Bull Terrier.

Edit: I wanted to say possibly a pit / boxer mix because of the coloring. She may be. I'd expect her to be around 50 pounds.

She looks like she has some Akita and Pit Bull in her. I've seen several smooth coated Akita mixes, they all have that mask on their face.
