What is the general purpose of life?

I would just like the general thoughts of all those philosophers out there.

what do you think the purpose of life is? It seems like life is a never ending struggle and we even see proof of that through those who have one. the rich could have everything they could ever want and yet white collars are the highest drug users in the world. suicides for people who don't understand what they have is the highest and yet all those kids in africa who are slaves to whoever could be the happiest kids in the world.

So just a general question. What do you think the fight in life is and if there even has to be a fight in life?

I'm not a philosopher , but I can try my best.

Life is exactly that. To find out what it's all about.

They say there are 2 most important days in your life. The day you were born, and the day you found out why. Maybe life is a gift we were given to change something on this earth, like we were each individually destined to do something. Or maybe it's just an adventure on our physical side, then when we die we go back home, in the spiritual world or something.

Or maybe it's just that.We all live to try to know what life is about. But we will never really know, so life is a big suspense.

The world sucks, but part of me feels in shouldn't be that way. Maybe the world was once a great place but it was somehow corrupted. For me, the purpose in life is to do good. It doesn't matter how much good, just as long as you contribute to bringing the world back to the so-called "Garden of Eden" (I will mention that I'm not Christian, that just seemed like the best metaphor). Even if the world never gets better, my life is a hell of a lot better when I'm doing good than when I'm not.

Other than that, life's a roller-coaster, and sometimes the best thing to do is just to ride it. And sometimes what you learn in the winter can help you live better in the summer.

What is the purpose of life... What is the point of it all? These questions are the begining of the journey of spirituality! When one wonders what it is all about, one begins to disconnects from the mundane and search begins!

Purpose of life is realization. Realization of who you truly are...are you this physical body? - that drops dead in a few decades? Are you the mind...a bundle of random constant thoughts? Or are you the soul.. the eternal witness?

You are born to continue your journey, of spiritual learnings of past lives. You are not new. Sanskrit word for human is "manava" literally it means ma- meaning not, and nava- meaning new. You have made progress in past lives, so you have an conscensious yearning to catchup. Enough time has been wasted. Also, renunciation or 'vairagya' in sanskrit is an attitude of the mind, in spiritual sense it does not mean leaving all and sitting in the forest. You may be feeling disconnected from mundane cuz you have been working on disconnecting yourself in past lives through meditation and spiritual exercises.

To wonder and to choose a path that helps you find answer to this important question is the purpose of life. Choose your path... And find the purpose.... You will see yourself when you are peaceful, dispassionate, selfless, quiet and feeling true love for all! In still water you can see your own reflection. In peace and silence you can listen to the voice from within. But journey is long and joyful.

Maybe the question is what is the purpose of a human being? Life all included would be the animals, the trees, plants, planets, creatures, cells, clouds, rain, the universe and so on. Being human, we experience it through the complexity of our brain. The brain is as complicated as the universe. You've seen what the brain looks like. It looks filled with never ending paths like a maze. And that's pretty much the journey of life. Simplify or complicate. What is the real goal? To find peace of mind.

This is somewhat of a paradox. The frequently used "Be all you can be" outlook does have much relevance to the equation but then it's a very straightforward & technically "Over-simplistic" end of looking at things when you consider the "Risk & reward" aspect of it. If we all just take the live to the full approach, then life is very easy,as a given this method isn't taking into consideration the consequences of diving in at the desire of your heart without thinking with your head. Yes I agree we are here to enjoy the time period we are here for though any fool can merely lunge in without contemplating reactions. By all means maximize your lifespan & the quality of your endured time period on this planet, just don't complain when the sh*t hits the fan & you personally have to deal with fallout of what you've brung on (As in my experience, most of the people with that attitude of live for tomorrow, are the ones who most often fall the hardest & disintegrate most easily).

You are making an unfounded assumption that life has a purpose.

You are imposing your ego on the workings of the universe.

What is the purpose, in the roll of the dice, to the die?

My understanding of the purpose of life comes from the Hindu faith, so I'll describe it to you as best as I can. I believe that the general purpose of life is to build character, get to know yourself better, and do the best that you can to make the world a better place. According to the Hindu faith, we exist because we are different expressions of God. At some point in the past, each soul entered the universe as a life form. Overtime, our actions determined where we would be born next. Those who performed good actions got a better life, and those who performed bad actions got a worse life. As you know, this is the theory of karma. So if you look at the world through a Hindu lens, those who are doing well have done good karma in past lives, and those who are doing poorly are suffering the bad karma of their past lives. Our job as humans is to do good karma so that our bad karma is washed away. This can be done by selflessly helping others. When we help others, we improve their life, as well as wash away our bad karma. Eventually, we will all be liberated. So life is like an exam, with God being the grader. He sees how well we do, and at the end of this life, he sees where we go next. If you get to a point where you have washed away your karma, you are not born again and go straight back to God. So this is the Hindu perspective. I know that this perspective makes assumptions like God and karma exist, but that's the explanation that I have.

Life is a gift. You can make your life better by what you have inherited or not by learning from the good, happy, prosperous examples of the people around you.

I think the purpose in life is just to make the best out of it before you die
