What we're the most important articles in The Treaty of Versailles?

I know that 1-26 was about nit letting Germany into the league of Nations and I already know about article 231. I need at least five including 231

Look at Articles 159 to 213.

These were those that severely limited the German military, and the German people had always been really, really proud of their military,so this part of the peace treaty was a big huniliation.

    1. The peace settlement carved out a 'corridor' of land separating East Prussia from the rest of Germany

to give the new Poland access to the sea.

    2. Germany's overseas colonies were seized and redistributed under the mandates from the League of

Nations (today known as the United Nations)

    3. During the negotiations at the Treaty the Allied powers flatly refused the 'union' of Germany and

German-speaking Austria (This had caused more outrage amongst Germans than anything else)

    4. Germany lost Posen, much of West Prussia and Upper Silesia to Poland. This in order to create the

    new Poland.

    5. Alsace-Lorraine, ceded back to France, along with the border territories of Eupen, Malmedy and

    Moresnet.

    6. The Saarland was lopped-off from Germany under a mandate with the promise that its people would

eventually be able to decide whether they wanted to become part of France; it was clearly expected

that in the end they would.

Many Germans realized that the Allies justified their ban on a German-Austrian union, as so much else in the Treaty of Versailles, by Article 231 which obliged Germany to accerpt the 'sole guilt' for the outbreak of the war in 1914. Other articles equally offensive to Germans, ordained the trial of the Kaiser and many others for war crimes. But in the end very few, if any had been convicted of same.

The real purpose of Article 231, however was to legitimize the imposition by the Allies of punitive financial reparations on Germany in order to compensate the French and the Belgians, in particular, for the damage caused by four and a quarter years of German occupation. They seized over two million tons of merchant ships, five thousand railway engines and 136,000 coaches, 24 million tons of coal and much more. Financial reparations were to be paid in gold (Reich currency was worthless at this stage) over a number of years stretching far into the future. (the estimate was 1984).

Numerous conditions were laid down to curb Germany's armed forces including to ban their air force altogether and build new large ships. In fact the German Navy was dismantled altogether.

They were made to pay 6.6 bill in reparation charges. The Rhineland was demilitarised. The German army was cut down to 100,000 men. The army was denied the use of tanks and planes. The German army was also only allowed the use of 6 batteships, no more. But the worst of all, which Hitler mentioned to be the one which caused Germany the greatest pain was that they had to accept full responsibility and guilt for the start of the war. Finally like you said, denied access to the L of N. Hope this helped 😋✋
