What are the reasons Americans do not like the Russian Government and Putin?

It seems to be that aside from it being demonized by the media, not many Americans really have a an idea why they dislike them at all.

What gets me is that we never learn. The world, especially progressives and other socialists adored Hitler. He was Times man of the year. Putin is so similar to him that its scary but yet, look at all the people here drooling over him.

Americans as a people believe they are superior. The government has another reason, making sure former Soviet republics are not too friendly with Russia. U.S. allocates money through its many agencies to bribe local politicians to overthrow certain governments. I dont need more proof than seeing John McCain in all of these countries stirring up trouble. The U.S. is still in a Cold War mentality and does not like competition from any country. The fact is without Russian help, the U.S. could not accomplish anything other than military force in the world because they are not diplomats.

I think Russia did a beautiful job setting up the whole games, the facilities, the tourist spots, the weather, turning this old city into a gorgeous new vacation resort was genius. Why American press is so antagonistic and critical I dont know. I hope that stupid American idiot who put a hole through his door pays to fix it.

I am American and I actually respect Putin to some degree. I think he does make some good decisions but I don't like the way he treats those who have mental illnesses or disabilities. His government has a long history of psychological warfare. I respect his desire to get fit, I respect his decision to tell Obama not to wage war on Syria (Assad can handle the situation with the crazy rebels), but I do not think is okay to hospitalize and drug people for schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders when they don't have it because they don't fit with his norms.

Because Russia doesn't roll over for the USA, in fact, the US is more likely to roll over for the Russians - Recently seen in Syria.

The US hates the fact that their global influence is decreasing due to Russia and in the future, China.

We fought a hot war and then a cold war against socialism and world empire. National socialism (fascism) was defeated in WW-II and the Soviet Empire fell after the cold war. Russia is both fascist and making heavy handed moves to establish a new empire. It's really a no brainer as to why Americans dislike the Russian government.

Mostly it's liberals angry that Putin constantly shows up Obama and makes a fool of him. Here's the pattern of our foreign policy over the past few years, Obama makes some ridiculous statement trying to seem like a big man, Putin shows up and tells him "Nyet" and Obama slinks home and whines about those meanies in congress. It happened in Syria, it happened in Ukraine, and it will happen for the rest of Obama's term.

The most obvious one is that if you put their leaders side by side the american leader is so lacking in merit. The discrepancy shows the poor decision making capacity of the citizens who vote because they believe in the sales pitch and propaganda instead of using common sense and intelligence.

Could it be that the Russians stand up to the USA, and the USA aren't used to being told what they can and can't do?

You're correct, even during the Olympics all the american news stations have done is try to look for flaws at the games which are few and far between, they even criticized the opening ceremony because of a technical fault with the lighting on one of the Olympic rings, apart from that the opening ceremony was top class! They still see Russia as their main nemesis for global hegemony!
