I'd appreciate any good book recommendations on Reconstruction.
I should have specified: I did mean non - fiction.

Reconstruction: America's Unfinished Revolution, 1863-1877 by Eric Foner. The author is probably the best known American author on the subject and is scathing in his denunciation of America's racist past.
The definite book on this subject and one which I have read.

For fiction:
The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln by Stephen L. Carter. It's a slightly alternate history in which Abraham Lincoln survived the assassination, and a few years later he is being tried for overstepping his power during the Civil War.
