Does it fundamentally violate the Constitution for a law to force Christians to violate their beliefs?
The Bible overwhelmingly condemns homosexuality. Only a fool would argue otherwise.
Christians are expressing their 100 percent Scriptural beliefs to be anti-gay.
That is not the same as being anti-black. Nothing in the Bible condemns blacks.
But the Bible clearly condemns the practice of homosexuality. Jesus never forgave a homosexual who was caught in the act of practicing homosexuality.
So, when laws force Christians to violate their 100 percent Scriptural beliefs by being forced to serve a gay customer against their will, isn't this discrimination against Christians?
Isn't this unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment separation of church and state, by violating the First Amendment protection of the legitimate religious beliefs of Christians?
When liberals rely on laws forcing Christians to violate their 100 percent Scriptural beliefs, aren't they relying on a law that is unconstitutional?
smsmith500, that is an excellent point.
WHY aren't any Muslims getting sued?
Because this is a Crusade against Christians. Christian business are being targeted for this harassment, just like Jewish businesses were targeted by the Nazis in Germany during the 1939's.
This has nothing to do with gay rights. Gay rights is just the excuse to attack Christians the same way Jews were attacked in Nazi Germany.
Left wing fascism is on the rise again. We are seeing it happen with our own eyes.
Chewy, Christians are the ones getting punished by having homosexuality literally shoved down their throats until they puke.
Gays can just find another baker. Christians should not be forced to give up their religious beliefs just because some militant gay walked through their door with the intent to shove his gayness down the baker's throat.
Uppity Girl, if laws label Christian beliefs as discrimination, then those laws ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
That is my whole point.
You are relying on a definition of the word "discrimination" that itself violates the First Amendment protection of religious beliefs.
This definition of discrimination is an unconstitutional intrusion into 100 percent Scriptural Christian beliefs, therefore it violates the separation of church and state by attempting to outlaw Christian beliefs.
KEEP YOUR GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY RELIGION
Lucille, that is exactly my point.
Christians should have FREEDOM OF CHOICE about whether or not to serve a gay customer.
Nobody should be forced to serve a customer against their will when it violates their 100 PERCENT SCRIPTURAL religious beliefs.

No. Religious belief is absolutely protected, meaning you can think whatever you want. But religious action enjoys only limited protection, meaning you cannot always act on those beliefs. For example, you can't take illegal drugs as part of a religious ceremony. You can't sacrifice virgins. You can't marry children. And you can't discriminate against entire classes of people in violation of the 14th Amendment.

Show me in the Bible where it says gay people can't eat a wedding cake, or where Jesus said that true believers can't sell things to homosexuals.
Christians can condemn homosexuality all they want. But engaging in commerce does NOT equate to acceptance of a lifestyle.
If you're using the Bible to attack a group of people, you're using it the wrong way.
And besides, there is no Constitutional Right to be a baker. If you don't like serving the public, get another job!

This whole issue is getting out of hand. It has nothing to do with refusing to serve gays in any capacity. It's only about not having to do anything that would tend to SUPPORT homosexuality. A baker very well could sell a cake to a homosexual, just not a wedding cake. Gays wouldn't suddenly be turned away from restaurants and clubs. But the owners might not want a gay wedding reception held there. Do any of you understand this?
I guess not. What a weak minded brainwashed bunch of people. I wonder what I'm doing here sometimes.

The condemnation of homosexuality in the Bible came from the Roman catholic church when they wrote the Bible, not from Christ. Theologians have also said that Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute, and that the passage before talks about prostitutes, and many connected her to be a prostitute. When the Roman government wrote the Bible, they took license with interpretation, and left out scripts they disagreed with or altered them.
Discrimination against people who are different is wrong, and if you think that this is their choice, then think again. A college kid at the University of Wyoming was murdered because he was gay, So-called Christians that spew hate messages about human beings that are "different" through no fault of there own, has to contend with hate speech from people such as you. It is not their choice that they are who they are, and anyone who believes it is a choice, is fundamentally, polarized in believing that it is, and they are dead wrong. Why would someone CHOOSE to be gay? There is, absolutely no evidence that someone would choose to be, and go through the constant harassment, and threats that they go through.
Radical radio, and Fox News (who never has shown proof of any of their accusations on anything) are poison to our society because of all the hate they freely put out there. Stephen Colbert said it best. "Fox reports the news, but you should check with someone else."
It seems most of the questions like yours come from elderly white men who think they are experts on everything, and Fox news keeps them validated. Sick!!
Your argument supports discrimination against other human beings, and that isn't the way America rolls.

While I understand the intent of the law, and somewhat support it, I really can't endorse it.
So you, being a devout Christian, have no problem going into a store owned by a Muslim and being turned away? That would block you from most convenience stores and gas stations.
Or if a Jew turns you away from his business? No problem there either?
When you start passing religious based laws you usually open up a huge can of worms. Abortion is a good example.

If you don't want to serve the public do not open a business that serves the public, it's pretty simple.
Do you think gays should be able to refuse to sell stuff to christians and muslims? Do you think muslims who drive cabs should be able to refuse fares who are carrying alcohol or who have dogs? Smells like hypocrisy

"Christians should have FREEDOM OF CHOICE about whether or not to serve a gay customer."
-What about black customers or jewish, muslim or japanese customers? Can muslims refuse to sell products to christians?
"Gays can just find another baker. Christians should not be forced to give up their religious beliefs just because some militant gay walked through their door with the intent to shove his gayness down the baker's throat."
-Yet, you can shove your religion down someone's throat? Would you be pissed if cab drivers refused to transport you somewhere because you had a bottle of wine? What if they asked if you if you had alcohol in your luggage and then refused to carry you if you did?
"Nobody should be forced to serve a customer against their will when it violates their 100 PERCENT SCRIPTURAL religious beliefs."
-Your business is not a church, you have no right to discriminate or enforce your religious rules on anyone.

Take religion out of the argument and it is still unconstitutional to force anyone to do anything against their will
13th Amendment to the US Constitution.

Cities issue a business license to do business. Cities are not allowed to discriminate, that is if you open a licensed business you're expected to act within the rules of that city in the public arena. Knowing that you're OBLIGATED to serve all customers regardless of race, religion, color, creed, sexual orientation or national origin by accepting that license means that you don't have a choice to reject gay people. If that conflicts with your religion then you may consider NOT going into business in the first place.

keep work and your personal beliefs separate it also speaks about discrimination and gays have a lot of support its not even good business practice and how do you know if someone is gay ? how would someone know unless it was made public ? right ? maybe you think someones gay what do you do when they come to your shop ask them about who they prefer to sleep with?

Yes. However, prohibiting Christians from discriminating against gays does not violate their beliefs. It is not Christians' job to punish sinners. That is God's job. Christians are taught to forgive and show compassion for sinners. "Judge not lest ye be judged."
The First Amendment does not protect religious practices that are deemed illegal. If Christians have the right to discriminate against gays, then Muslims would have the right to engage in honor killings and Satanists would have the right to kidnap and sacrifice children.
Edit: Conservatives violate my religious beliefs by shoving free market capitalism down my throat until I literally puke. There are more passages denouncing the rich and greed than there are denouncing homosexuality. If I have to put up with all this unholy materialism, you can put up with the random gay couple.
