Christians, didn't Jesus say...?
anyone with any possessions or wealth will have a harder time getting into heaven then a camel would getting through the eye of a needle,
and didn't he say blessed those who weep and mourn?
so my question is, do you want your kids to do well and have money and lots of nice things when they are older?

Did Jesus mean that no wealthy person will inherit the Kingdom? No, for he went on to say: “With God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:25, 26) Indeed, with Jehovah’s help some wealthy people back then did become anointed Christians. (1 Timothy 6:17) Nevertheless, Jesus said those surprising words for good reason. He was giving a warning.
If a person becomes attached to his possessions as that wealthy young man did, they could become a barrier to his serving Jehovah wholeheartedly. That could be true both of one who is already wealthy and of one who is “determined to be rich. (1 Timothy 6:9, 10) Trusting too much in material things can lead a person to be less ‘conscious of his spiritual need.’ (Matthew 5:3) As a result, he might not feel the same need for Jehovah’s support. (Deuteronomy 6:10-12) He might come to expect special treatment in the congregation. (James 2:1-4) And he could spend most of his time enjoying his wealth rather than serving Jehovah.

you are absolutely correct, but most humans cannot accept his instructions about wealth. So they made up the idea that its only about "loving" money rather than "having" money and of course everyone says they don't love their money -- problem solved. They ignore that he was saying that having wealth is the same as serving the master that creates wealth. It doesn't drop out of the sky on people.
Some even tried to argue that the "needle" was actually a very huge gate - but few bought into that one over time.
His deciples clearly DID understand his point however and many of them lived in socialist commune type collectives.
Ineed, Jesus also said that it is the poor who will inherit heaven (not the wealthy). he was far more into an eastern-like non-wealth sepereate from your attachments approach than western Christians want to admit.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25)
Nowhere is there any indication that "anyone with any possessions or wealth" is equal to "a rich man" in this context, straw man.

The rich person who has all his desires fulfilled is basically learning nothing from life.
The suffering soul has learned a great deal.
I guess this is why we say that someone is a "spoiled little rich kid" or a "snob" and look down on them for never having understood the more important things in life.

You are absolutely right. you need to combine that with the fact that we are all sinners and the good we do is done through Jesus. Peter asks who can be saved then? and Jesus replies with God all things are possible.
no one is righteous but Christ works through us to make us like Him.
Now when you believe in His power you will be able to see that with His help you can do the things that He wants you to do even though they may seem impossible.

I'm afraid you've missed the whole point of this story. Jesus made the rich young man realize that he loved his wealth more than he loved eternal life. That’s why he went away sad (Mark 10:22). But the key to understanding Mark 10:17-31 lies in verse 27. It is impossible for us to save ourselves, but it’s not impossible for God to save us. All things are possible with God.
Then Peter said, “We’ve left everything everything to follow you!” Jesus assured them (and us) that such a sacrifice will not go unrewarded. But then He warned us to be careful, because those who think they should be first could wind up being last (Mark 10:28-31).
So by two contrasting examples, one who was unwilling to give up his worldly wealth, and another who had given up everything, the Lord made His point. Every attempt to gain entry into the Kingdom based on achievement or merit will be futile no matter how impressive it is in man’s sight. Our wealth can’t buy our place in eternity and our self sacrifice can’t earn it. Only complete reliance on the Grace of God is sufficient.
The Bible is hardly anti-wealth. King Soloman wrote in Proverbs 13:22 that good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous. Poor people don't leave inheritances.
Throughout the Old Testament, when Israel was being obedient to God they were prosperous. Deprivation was evidence of disobedience. In the New Testament Jesus said He came so we could have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10) and Paul wrote that we can be made rich in every way so we can be generous on every occasion (1 Cor. 9:11).
The point throughout is that God rewards the faithful and we should never make our wealth more important than the One who provides it. Deuteronomy 8:17-18 says ...
You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

Actually, for the rich man getting into heaven, He said it was impossible *without God*. And then states, "but with God, all things are possible." Meaning that it's God that makes it possible for ANYONE (including the rich) to reach heaven.
Reading in context is rather helpful.

Well done for chiselling away at a good piece of marble with a bazooka :D
Even as an atheist this passage makes a fair point about materialism and I don't think it's incredibly hard to comprehend haha

He also said "but with God all things are possible". Abraham and Job were both very wealthy.
And rich people weep and mourn also

Why are you constantly mis-quote the scripture to make a pathetic and failed point
some people would call you a liar
