Atheists, would you be more convinced if God suddenly cared enough to rewrite the bible...?

...without scientific errors or contradictions? Perhaps he can correct his math and define (PI) the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter as 3.14159265359, instead of simply 3 (I Kings 7:23-26). Perhaps he can see to it to reclassify a bat as a mammal and not a bird. Maybe he will admit that insects have more than four legs and that rabbits do not chew their cud.

Maybe he can solve the contradiction on how unbelievers should be treated:

1. Kill them

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die. -- Deuteronomy 13:6-10

2. Shun them

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ... Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord. -- 2 Corinthians 6:14-17

3. or Love them

Love thy neighbor as thyself. -- Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9-10, Galatians 5:14, James 2:8

Love your enemies. -- Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:27

Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them. -- Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:31

Maybe this time he can add things like upper case/lower case, words like a, and, am, and the. Let's not forget punctuation because we know how easily the sentence, "This is my son Steve" can become This is my son, Steve".

Don't you think this would clear up some of our "atheist misunderstandings?

Update:

HSURR2121, you only read picture books? I'm sorry.

Update 2:

Dogofman, exactly. How would we know he wrote the first text?

Update 3:

dieter b, "What kind of moron are you?"

Does that mean you have nothing intelligent to add?

Update 4:

Simon T, I would like to see you rewrite Fahrenheit 451, because it really sucks.

No, not really. It would just change the focus elsewhere.

If the Bible said that a round bowl was 3.14 times the diameter they would still complain it was "incorrect" because it should be 3.14159. And if it said 3.14159 they would not accept it because it is not 3.1415926535879.... Never mind that ancient Hebrew did not have abilities to record numbers in decimal form.

"A man rejects God neither because of intellectual demands

nor because of the scarcity of evidence.

A man rejects God because of a moral resistance that refuses to admit his need for God."

Did you know that in the English of the 1600s "bird" meant anything that flew? Mosquito, eagle, bat, maybe even a kite on a string. So I don;t care about that.

If you accept the Christian story, all those who do not believe are condemned. This leaves the millions who were born and died before the events in the Gospels rather in the lurch. Remember, Jesus is closer to out times than he was to the times of the construction of the Giza pyramids and even if believe the Earth is only 6018 years old, the same thing remains true.

It also condemns those who lived far away and never has a chance to hear the "good word" for up to 2000 years later. Millions of Chinese, Africans, Australian aborigines, native Americans and so forth.

If all bibles manically updated themselves - then yes.

But if some human just rewrites all the bits that are known false, and then declares it to be the new Absolute Word Of God. - - -

Then no. That is just some schmuck doing a rewrite. I could do the same to the Odyssey and the Iliad - but that would not suddenly make Zeus and Poseidon real gods.

Yes, if God himself opened the heavens with a giant pen and wrote a new Bible with the entire human race as witness to the act, and handed each of us a personal signed copy I would be entirely convinced.

Now... do you think even 0.0000001% of what I asked for as evidence is likely to occur?

Have you ever heard of "no europeans before Christoffer columbus." You don't want to rewrite all the books in history do you. Historians don't want to be wrong and wipe out a mountain of books. You know, be in denial, stick your head in the sand up to your little toes.

I would be more convinced if he forgot about putting things in a bible and stuck his head out of hiding and said hello world, I'm God.

If that is the case then He should also add a disclaimer about his previous mistakes and errors. I guess He's not perfect.

that would only fix roughly the 1% of their inconsistencies, now The plot also need some remastering, adding robots aliens and Pokémons would lively it up =)

How would I know a God was rewriting it and not just some guy saying he's god's prophet *cough* Joseph Smith *cough*

Surely he wouldn't have got them wrong in the first place if he made the universe?
