Ukraine received security assurances from the US, Russia and UK in the Budapest memorandum (1994) as part of a deal to remove 1800 nuclear warheads from Ukrainian soil. France and China provided separate diplomatic notes backing Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Russia has violated the treaty by invading Ukraine.
