Wedding bands are just a social convention. If you don't want one that's your decision. No-one else's business. Occasionally someone out of curiosity will ask why. Just tell them what you told us. No big problem (-:

Wedding bands don't look odd.
I know of some people who get them tattooed on instead of having an actual band.
I sometimes wear mind on a necklace if I'm working, so if you like necklaces that's an option.

Traditionally, it was only the bride who wore a wedding band, to tell others she belonged to a man. One reason was that if a wife was unfaithful, her husband could end up supporting someone else's kids. If you are having a religious service, and the giving of a ring is an integral part of the service, you can borrow one then return it once the register is signed, or when you leave the church. Some couples do this because they are very poor, or lose the ring.

People wear them when they are married. You should wear your band if you are married.
