In Hebrew, what is the difference between the verbs "ציר" and "צבע"?
In the context of drawing/painting. In English (sorry if this seems obvious but I will just state it anyway) there are two words, "draw" means to make a picture with dry media, like a pen, or pencil, and paint means to use wet paint usually by brushing. Something I've been confused about is, what does the word "מצייר" specifically mean? I've heard it used for 'painting' and for 'drawing'. I've also heard the word "צבע" Obviously צבע means colour. Do you perceive there is any difference between the two words? תודה רבה Sorry if anyone doesn't like this question. To learn a language I have to ask silly questions and mess stuff up.

צבע means painted, לצבוע means "to paint"
צייר (better use two Yods if you don't use Niqqud) means drew, לצייר means "to draw".
This is not a silly question at all. As the previous answerer said, it is not always that straightforward word-for-word translation. In this case, it is as simple as that.

In Hebrew, צ××¢ in itself doesn't have artistic meaning.
That's in contrast to English, where "to paint" also has artistic meaning (in addition to the other, mundane meaning of "cover with paint"). That's why you say "a painting", "he painted his mistress many times", and "Leonardo was a great painter".
In Hebrew we use only צ××ר (and words of this root) for the artistic meaning. So "a painting" is "צִ×Ö¼×ּר", "he painted his..." is "××× ×¦××ר...", and "... was a painter" is "××× ×¦Ö·×ָּר".
So, while in English "a painter" has two meanings, the corresponding Hebrew word (צַ×ָּע) has only one: a person employed to cover object with paint.

BTW, the word צ××ר has the same root of the word "צ×ּרָ×", which means "form".
(Related verbs are צָר ("[he] formed/shaped/moulded") and ×ָצַר ("[he] created"). E.g., "[the baker] created forms of circles [from the dough]" is "צָר צ×ּר×ת ×©× ×¢××××××", and "[the Creator] created/formed [man ...]" (Genesis 2:7) is "×ָצַר ×ת ××××" (well, not quite: there you'll see the "future" tense; Interestingly, there's a discussion in the Talmud about why there are two Yods there, but it's not related to @Slus's comment).)

צ××¢ means color.
×צ××ר means "painting" or "drawing" in context of talking about a male.
for example:
××× ×צ××ר (Hu Metzayer) means "he is painting", "he is drawing", "he paints" or "he draws".
Its the only use of this word, you can't say this about girls because hebrew has grammatical gender.
צ××ר (you should write it with two Yods like this: צ××ר. the world צ×ר which has one yod means axis) means painter.

צ×××¢×, "painting" reffers to working with color, or colors. You paint something blue, orange or green. You paint a wall. If you paint a picture, it means the picture was already drawn and now you're filliing in the colors.
צ××ר means drawing in general.

צ××ר means painter.
צ××¢ means housepainter or color, depending on the diacritic points used.
Not very difficult.
צ×ר means axis, it is an incorrect way to spell צ××ר.

It has no difference. Both mean "I am a faggot who got gassed" or "I like to downvote cause I have a big nose"
