Do you think that 'Top Contributor's' in Yahoo are superior?

I had always wondered what it would be like to earn my little gold crown.

How to get it appeared to be one of those great mysteries but for years and years I just kept answering lots of questions. Sometimes my answers were reported and deleted by 'trusted members' and this was a big disappointment. Anyway after a really concerted effort suddenly I logged on one morning and there it was: My profile had become golden, I had been honoured by the 'great Yahoo' and given my crown. My life was now complete and a radiant smile spread across my little blank yahoo face. Then doubt began to spread in, was I really superior to all the average inferior 'Yahoo users' or was I just deluding myself, drawn in by my own lust for stardom? Where can I possibly go from here not that I have achieved my lifetime goal? Is this really as good as it gets.

Please tell me that I am truly a superior, I really need you adoration or my crown might loose it's sparkle, I wont need my glasses to protect me from my own brilliance and my beautiful smile may vanish for ever.

Please help.

NOT AT ALL. A TC is just someone that answered the required # of answers and got the required # of best answers to meet the formula requirements for that category. It is just a meaningless Crown.

It does not in any way indicate quality of answers by those that have it.

There are some that do give good answers but sadly that is becoming the minority.

Some think they are superior though and some that don't have one think it is something special and something to strive for.

It is easy to get that crown and this category shows just how easy it is.

Some like to think having one makes them an expert in the category they have it in or that it requires knowledge when in fact it doesn't as some answer given by some show that very clearly..

It is not a choice to have that silly crown and many of the good users would prefer not to have it.

Some users need the crown which indicates something lacking in them or their lives that something so meaningless is important.

In this category some of the TC's answers are so wrong that having one and being lumped in with them is an embarrassment.

    No.....

Having been here for 7 years I can personally tell you that being a TC means nothing really, it just means you've answered a lot of questions and gotten a percentage of BA's in one or more categories...nothing more.

I mean there's no time restriction or anything so if you're active on this site a long time like me it's not that surprising that you eventually become one.

So I would definitely say that if if being a TC (or becoming one) does actually mean something to you and actually makes you feel superior or to other users/people on here, then I would think that it would possibly hint to some unfortunate underlying issues that may need to be dealt with.

Not superior - just prolific! It is all about quantity, rather than quality.

well if this is how you got your TC crown...

    http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201...

then I would say no, having a TC crown does not make anyone superior

ADD: the TC status is for the QUANTITY of answers you give and the QUANTITY of best answers you are given, not for the quality as there is no computer algorithm that can calculate that
