Is it a bit too much for me to ask a friend to house my daughter in her home, to be close to her college?

I woudl pay her monthly of course. My 19 yr old is transferring to a college in her hometown and I need to ask her if this would be ok. Is it too much to ask? She is a widow.

Update:

She would be 45 minutes from me, and I know it's a lot to ask. But I can always be over if there is a problem. My daughter doesnt drive yet but will be, and it beats living on campus and paying the school as well.

I wouldn't ask anyone other than a very close friend or family to take in my child. A good friend would offer because you'd be speaking with her frequently and she'd know your daughter was transferring, same with family.

It will make her responsible for tour daughter and that's really something you want to do. Money/finance isn't really the main issue here, for example they may not get along and she might like to be on her own. It's up to you at the end of the day as only you will know what your friend is like, good luck.
