Gokart driving Delaware?

Question

I have a 1996 Briggs and Stratton street gokart. (5 hp) I fixed it up by putting half the engine together, putting a seat on it, new tires and rims, new brakes, new clutch, new gear ring, new bumpers and I added headlights and tailights. I drive it all the time. It goes 64mph on a good day but usually goes 53mph on a normal day. But anyway I drive it around my neighborhood and on back roads. I dont go to fast with people present but I go fast when there isnt. I drive on the right side of the road, pull over to let cars pass me, and keep a distance of 4 feet with people walking on the road. Recently I have seen people talking on the phone watching me. I purposely stall and pull over to hear what they are saying. Most of the time they are talking on the phone reporting me... If I get caught what would happen?

First offense is a fine between $25 and $115 (probably at the low end if you are not being difficult). Each one after that is $57.50 to $230, probably starting at the low end and going up each time.

In most states, you could be ticketed for an illegal vehicle on a public roadway.  Even if you have lights, brakes, etc. there are laws about the height and position of brake lights, headlight, and such. Also, windshields, side glass, doors. It varies by state law.

You are enjoying yourself and enjoying the fruits of all your labors.  Some people hate it when we enjoy ourself.  I would lay low for a while until things cool down.  Maybe find some off-road place.
