In the USA, is the gesture of beckoning to someone by curling the finger towards you considered demeaning?
And would you only use this gesture towards dogs or a lower class, like a servant? (This is specifically for the United States.)

The gesture has the potential for being demeaning but not necessarily. it depends on the context of its intention and circumstances.
When I've used that gesture, it has been more in a playful manner....no demeaning intention at all.
