Child support issue with My boyfriend that has an 18 year old daughter?

That he has never seen since birth & wasn't even sure if she was his until we ordered for the DNA .

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio which is also where he's always resided.

Shortly after her mother left & started a new life in Indiana & hasn't been back much but just last year when she was 17 1/2 she decided to file for child support including the back pay of 18 years.

Well she is now 18 & DNA was just determined so there's an order pending until court at the end of the week. She won't graduate high school until June of this year so I guess the order won't stop until then.

The prosecutors say that she can only go back from the time she filed but maybe not even that far unless she gets a lawyer & fights like hell.

We have a 16 year old son together so I do understand that he has a responsibility to pay for her as well but what I don't understand is why wait 17 1/2 years to file for child support now.

She uses the excuse that he was on the run & hiding but she's always known where his family's lived & also knew how to get in contact with me if she really wanted to.

IDK WTH came about with these people but I have several harassment charges filed with the police on her from facebook, email, etc & even as nasty & down to a sexual encounter ad that was put on CL with my name, # & pic posted.

To me it seems her daughter has always been jealous that my son & his father have a strong bond/ relationship & she never go to have that but he doesn't drive & she's the one that took off

Update:

I had to re-add because I ran out of room. If anyone ran & hid she did because he never knew where they were or heard from them until this all came about last May.

They were never married or anything & she's even married with a whole new family. I'm not trying to justify anything I'm just saying. WELL ?

what my main question was/is should we try to contest on not having the order start until the DNA was determined because I've heard that's how it goes sometimes in OH. or what ?? NO negative PLZ

Update 2:

He was never served until MAY 2013 She never tried because she claims he's been in hiding for 18 years & she's never been able to find him which is a total lie because we've never left OHIO unless it was a weeks vacation or something. I know this because like I said we have a 16 year old son so I've been with him for just about 17 years now.

Update 3:

YES I feel it's all just a money issue also. Who waits 17 1/2 years to file for child support ?

If anything I actually hope she can only get it from the time DNA was proven/read which was last month cause that's what she gets for waiting so long but if nothing else the most she can get is 13 months from last MAY til this JUNE 6th when she graduates high school they said.

The prosecutor here that's working on it is SHDH even wondering why now & with all the harassment reports that been showed.

Update 4:

Good TY very much that's exactly how I'm looking at it too. I was just looking for some answers. We actually went through a bad spot 5 years ago & we were receiving some government assistance temporarily. So if they were really looking you think it would of al popped up in the CUY.CTY system.

If she was trying to serve him and she claims he was " on the run " then she would have years of filings and unserved summons as well as a stack of returned certified letters .

If he ends up having to pay a year or two in child support he should consider himself lucky .

It seems all the ex and daughter are after is some easy money . It might be in your best interest to use a lawyer to broker a binding , out of court settlement .

Edit : It's easy enough to prove his address , his employment , his bank accounts and utility bills for the past 17 years .

Her claims that he has been on the run will be blown out of the water .

someone lost their job or someone wants to go to college on a free dime

the mother assumed she could go back 18 years and be set for her retirement plans

I am so glad the courts will not allow this - and will only let her go back so far

I think you should be lucky he didn't have to pay all this time and he should still help out his daughter now and after she is 18 - as long as she remains in his life . . .

So your question is why did this woman wait so long to file for child support? I have no idea. Did you really think random strangers on the internet had the power to read her mind?

if he were a NORMAL man he should have offered child support by himself. seems like u always knew he had a daughter and were even in contact with them
