I had my kitchen remodeled in 2008 and installed 10 recessed can lights. The one over my sink, the interior of the can now looks burned...?

I'm guessing bulb too hot but if that's the case, WHY not the others with same size bulb? Could the can merely be defective?

Burned or Rusty? It is common for inexpensive light cans over sinks to rust because of the moisture from the sink and the lack of enamel protection inside the can. Add together, tin and moisture, add heat from a light bulb and you get rust.

If it is rust, replace the can with one that has enamel on the inside. If it is actually burned, it is getting too hot and the light bulb wattage may be greater than the can is designed for. Go to a lower watt bulb.

Might also be insulation touching the outside of that can.

Installing CFL lamps will solve a heat problem.
