Are Jehovah's witnesses the earth's only "enlightened spiritual group" ?
"Some body's knocking at the door !
Some body's ringing the bell !
Do me a favour. Open the door and let them in".
A wonderful song by Sir Paul Mcartney, but it also applies to the above
question.
This earth is filled with many confused denominational groups, but
having recently studied with the witnesses. They believe that there
is only one "True Religion" and that is their teachings alone.
Do these people truly walk in the footsteps of the "great enlightened masters"
of the past, who have truly attained enlightenment, which every soul seekest
after ?
Looking forward to your response !!!
Peace

No. In fact, they are very selective in the type of information they consider. If something goes against their beliefs, and it's argument seems strong or compelling, they will avoid it. That is how truly fragile their faith is, which makes sense, because it's based on unverified Watchtower propaganda.
Just look at their publications. Always starts with an authoritative yet "loving" tone. The paragraph tells you what to think, then the question quizzes you on it to reinforce that notion.
People all over the world are wising up to this tactic though. Even JWs are realizing how weak the foundation of their belief system is. Many feel compelled to stay within the group because if they leave, their friends and family from the only life they've known will shun them. Not hard to see why they avoid information that contradicts their doctrine. But it can't last forever. As far as religions go, this one will remain on the fringe.

I don't believe the JWs have a true prophet. Satan raises up many counterfeits. As someone said, you never see a fake 97 dollar bill - because there isn't a true one to copy. There wouldn't be so many false prophets if there weren't some true ones around. Satan is trying desperately to muddy the waters.
How can you know if a prophet is true? "To the Law and to the Testimony - if they speak not according to this word (the Bible) there is no light in them." Compare everything a prophet says with the Bible. Most will fall! But there are true prophets raised up by God to tell when major events are to happen on earth. "Surely the Lord will do nothing but He speaks through His servants the prophets" and "despise not prophesying".
Search with an open heart and mind. If the "keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus" you can trust a prophet. Jesus must be lifted up.

Yes indeed we are !!!
Just look at Christendom's deplorable history of violence, hatred, oppression of true Christians, idolatry, immorality, false pagan doctrines that are accepted as truth, involvement in politics and the wars between nations.
Are any of these things based on having spiritual enlightenment?
Their enlightenment is not from Jehovah.
Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians. We obey God as ruler rather than men. We are the only religion who takes very seriously Jesus' command to be "no part of the world"

I think any group that thinks they are the only enlightened ones, and the only ones who are truly following the right god and living the way that right god wants them to, is extremely unenlightened. After all, if someone does decide to believe in god, then comes the huge issue of trying to figure out which one is the right one. It's a roll of the dice, and anyone who is not honest enough to admit that is not very enlightened at all.

There is an old quote saying :
“The truth knocks on the door and you say, "Go away, I am looking for the truth," and so it goes away. Puzzling.”
― Robert M. Pirsig
There is much truth in that happens. Which is why that quote has remain popular.
Jesus himself says he knocks at the door.
The majority rejected his truth. And many have tried to change it and will and they will be turned away at the end. (As in Rev. we see...but Lord didnt we.....)
Hebrews says, "Today if you will His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation." (Heb. 3:15) If you want to hear the voice of God, you have to not harden your heart against Him. In other words, do not be set in your own will "to the point" where you will "only hear what you want to hear". And many do that, I see that all the time in some. We can not have an agenda with God. We have to open our ears to be willing to listen when others talk.
Be like the the Jews in Berea who applied seriously to the study of the word preached unto them by Paul. They did already know much truth of God but were willing to listen still. Until they were sure of truth. They not only heard Paul preach on the sabbath, but daily searched the Scriptures, and compared what they read with the facts related to them. They did not take him at his first word--they studied all he had to say. And they were called Nobel for it.
The truth does not fear " honest inquiry"; Not all is. But it is not going to go into endless debating with some neither. We are told in the scriptures to avoid foolish controversies, and arguments and quarrels, the false speculation from some, because these are foolish, unprofitable and useless. And that they often are. I watch out for extreme bias sites as well (not religious organizations -but sites that against some groups that are very bias and their prejudices show if your smart enough to pay attention. Often including their much more opinions and slanted views than real fact) . Some people do not seem to understand that is why many to not want to be bothered with such things- It's foolish, unprofitable and useless to our better being
* I know many witnesses for his cause desire no more than that people will fully and fairly examine whether things are so or not. That is why they go door to door.
That is fair enough. They are doing good work there.
I think rather you accept what they say or not we should all the hearers of the gospel become like those of Berea, receiving the word with readiness of mind, and searching the Scriptures daily, whether the things preached to them by others were so. And they did learn more it seems.
It does not hurt one to listen. I listen to some who are not of my beliefs. And I have learned as well from them. Perhaps some me as well.
I listen to many until I am sure of enough untruth spoken and/or to many of men ideas added (which is often) and the wrong I see. Than I avoid hearing any more from some. And I know that by the scriptures/books themselves. My faith is not fragile nor do I think some others are just because some might think that. If fact many have show great strength that I doubt others would.
And I listen first- than make a study-and not many do. They really do not . That is a fact that can not be denied in many things (religion, politics, science and so on)
The prophets and the great ones of the Bible , most were normal men who were blessed to be able to speak Gods Words to His people.
Enlightened? By the spirit of God they were - if that is what and who you mean .
They could also fall away from the enlightening if not careful.
Hebrews 6:4-6
For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, "and then"" have fallen away," to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.
It is God who gives us enlightening , God has laid up spiritual blessings for us in his Son the Lord Jesus; but requires us to draw that out in ourselves by taking in knowledge of the one true God and the one he sent forth.
That having "the eyes of your heart enlightened"--a biblical expressions. denotes that to see things clearly there is needed, not merely intellectual clearness, but moral susceptibility which is a big important requirement- a movement of the heart
What enlighten are you talking about?
Peace to you too.

that is going to depend entirely on how one defines:
"enlightened spiritual group"
If you define that term right you could even come up with the Bush family as the only correct answer.
PLEASE - define your terms BEFORE you ask for opinions, otherwise you are just setting all the users up for confilct with each other.

There is only ONE WAY to God and that is through Jesus Christ, His Son.
Jesus tells us in this text that anyone trying to enter into God's kingdom can only do so by Jesus Christ. Everyone else is called a thief and a robber.
John 10:1-10, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
Jesus is NOT an ascended master but He is the Master.
Christians do not go about teaching that only their denomination of christianity goes to heaven. Christians do not believe in divisions. Denomination is another word for division. Christians believe and teach there is only ONE WAY to God and that is NOT through a group of men running a billion dollar publishing company in New York City. We, Christians, are enlightened of God through the truth in the Word of God. We believe in Jesus who is called the Truth as the scripture states. We don't believe that witnesses for the watchtower are "the truth". That title belongs to God alone, never to an organization.
Christians do NOT believe that salvation is found in a group. Many calling themselves christian teach otherwise but they are lying. Only through the Bible do we know the Truth is Jesus, not a group of people.
