Possible sleeve tattoo!?
Well I've always wanted a sleeve of tattoos, I could never entire decided on a theme but I think my perfect chance to get one is here.
Recently an artist I follow on Instagram, posted up saying he had a certain idea for a sleeve and he would give whomever wanted or was willing to get it done a really good deal. The theme he picked is actually one I was considering.
So what's the problem? A dream sleeve at a good price what am I waiting for? Well I'm only 20 years old, and have only gotten small tattoos and I don't know of I am ready to have a full length sleeve. It's not cause I'm unsure about the theme, but because I am still in school studying to get my career started. I know it probably won't matter that I have it once I have my career cause it is in the art field (animation) but I am worried about it for jobs that I currently may need until I get my career. Like currently I work in a child's clothing store and I'm not sure it that will impact it.
Should I hold off? Or go through with it, I mean it is just a job, and I could always find a new one. But what do you think.
You're opinions on the matter would be great!
And if you can tell me your experience in getting a
tattoo sleeve.
Thanks!!!

I am currently in the process of getting a sleeve done on my left arm. It's the most awesome experience even against my other tattoos. You really get to work with your artist and see it all play out. I've completed my third sitting and am healing up for the fourth. I don't know about the job thing, I didn't ask my job for permission and just went for it. All my tats except one are completely visible and no one has a problem with it. If they did, they can't fire you for that however they can demand you cover them up, Which you would have to do, so I never understand the job aspect. If people want a tattoo and are concerned about a job, simply make sure it is coverable.
I'm actually doing a dragon theme, storm and fire, contrasting one another almost like mirror images. I also am having my artist incorporate the kanji symbols for fire and storm into the sleeve. Lots of lightning, water and fire in the tat plus where the dragons meet, almost a steam like presence in the center of my arm. I give my artist lots of leeway as long as he sticks to my original concept and this way he has fun and so do I. It Is really an awesome experience and the wait time in between kills me. However it is a HUGE commitment of time, money and your body so make sure you are completely sure. I actually waited until slightly later in life to start getting my tattoos and for me it was the right thing to do. Now I am on a quest to cover as much as I can within reason of course. lol
Overall you may want to wait a bit until you are all settled with school but that will be up to you. As for sleeves themselves, I love it much more than getting a single tattoo so even though I am only about half done I am already trying to figure out what to do next.
Good luck to you whatever you decide!!!

Hold off if you arent 100% sure. Think of something like a job if you want to work a nice professional high level job many discriminate against people with large tattoos so you might be stuck wearing a jacket to hide it all the time. Plus even lower level jobs like food service can discriminate against tattoos and there are no federal laws protecting discrimination for tattoed people. I dont think a childrens shop would like it at all, talk to your boss if you do decide to do it. Many places like summer camps say dont apply if you have un hid-able tattoos or facial piercings other than a nose stud. If you still want it think of your wedding... how would your mother and mother in law feel with you walking down the isle with a large tattoo (a good reason to get it on your left arm the audience wont see it), no matter how awesome a tattoo is it will make any wedding dress look tacky. Thats my rule for large pieces make sure it can be hidden by the dress and if not do it after the wedding, i know too many people who hated finding a dress to cover theirs and wish they just waited. Best of luck :) you are young so i know it seems like you have to do it the sooner the better but in all honesty you dont have to decide now, if you have doubts put it off for a year and if you have doubts then put it off another year till you are 110% sure :)

I love tattoos so I will always encourage people to get them but also think people should think very carefully before they do. Wanting a tattoo is exciting but when it becomes more than a concept it's different. My recommendation would be to research tattoo artists find one with a style you like and schedule a consulting appointment. Tell them what you want what so they can draw it up so you know exactly what will be on you. After that just wait. I waited a year but maybe less time would be fine for you. Really think about it and if after however long you wait you still want it go for it!

If you hold off untill you finish school you might not even want it anymore. If you do consider a sleeve tatt make sure its meaningful.. you don't want a tattoo that has no type of value to it and it covers your whole arm!
