2.4GHz or 5GHz Netgear mode?

Hello all,

so I bought the new Netgear Wireless router, but i honestly do not remember the exact model, but anyways my question is which mode is better?

2.4 GHz up to 145 Mbps or up to 300 Mbps

5 GHz up to 145 Mbps or up to 300 Mbps?

the default was 300 Mbps for 5 GHz and 145 Mbps for 2.4 GHz, but I changed the 2.4 from 145 Mbps to 300 Mbps.

Please answer if you know because I am a bit confused about this router thing

Also any recommendation on changing the Channels?

2.4 GHz is set to Auto

5 GHz is set to Channel 153

Thanks

2.4G is a very busy band to start. And actually the 5G band goes further and is a little better going through walls and floors.

That speed number is just for communication between devices connected to the router. It has no effect on web connection speed. So if you get lag with streaming or games that does not help.

Ok, short answer is 2.4g is more widely used and works further distances, However; if you computer supports 5g as well and distance isn't the issue you will experience less interfearence and faster speeds as a result. Much of it has to do with who else has these things around you as well as what other devices are nearby that can interfere and mess with the theoretical.
