What do you think about this rape case in France?

They're taking DNA samples from 527 different men at the school. What do you think about this? Should this sort of search be allowed in the United States?

Update:

Note that it said the police "demanded" DNA samples, and that anyone not providing a sample would be considered a suspect and taken into custody. In France, you're assumed guilty and have to prove yourself innocent.

In the US, this search would be considered overly broad and not allowed under the 4th Amendment requiring due cause for searches. Do you think searches like this one should be legal in the US?

Well, even if you refused, you would eventually have to give the DNA sample. If you are considered a suspect the DNA sample is the best way to prove your innocence.

I am most concerned about their "promise" that samples will be destroyed. I would demand that there be an independent watchdog to make sure that samples and their records are indeed destroyed.

Not unless they take it from women too!

But yes, i think it should be allowed IF they can be trusted to throw away the dna results after they find/dont find a suspect.

We all know thou that the US government would keep them on file incase they need them. Which is why it will never be allowed.

    it's already allowed

"prosecutor Isabelle Pagenelle said so far no one had refused"

it's voluntary, and the best way to prove it wasn't you.
