When tea party folks talk about spending, no military?
The military accounts for a huge part of our budget. The talk of spending never ends up anywhere near defense stuff...
Our national budget every year is over 50% military-related spending. Meanwhile welfare of the hand-out kind takes up like 3%..
I'm not usually very conspiracy oriented, but it seems incredibly strange that this never enters the debate
I guess I should add, that I don't mean just the money given directly to the military each year... I mean all of the costs of running the military

Where in the world did you come up with those numbers? Spending on defense is less than 20% of the federal budget. Welfare and entitlements make up about 16%, only slightly less than military spending.

You have to keep in mind most of the money the military spends is spent in conservative states to defense contractors who are conservative!
Oh and by the way conservatives always ignore that on 9/10/2001 Donald Rumsfeld announced that the pentagon could not account for more then a missing trillion dollars it spent. Is it a coincidence that the next day the pentagon was hit were those records were kept?

Silly liberal, when you cut our military down to pre-World War II numbers you just leave America open to attack from Putin. Never mind the fact that we spend more on defense than the next 15 countries combined and most of those being allies. Never mind that there aren't any countries comparable to Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union today.
I was just joking about the Putin thing but then Mike answered XD

When Eisenhower warned the nation about the military-industrial complex, he may or may not have been aware of the extent to which it is unionized. But it is heavily unionized, and thus you get a toxic mix of hawkish right wing politicians in bed with dues-grubbing leftist unions - both living off the public purse. There are a myriad of reasons why taxpayer-funded organizations should NOT (as FDR himself said) be unionized, but the military-industrial complex is foremost among them.

Sweet Jesus, this is a no brainer!
So, in a hostile world...(always has been, always will be)..should
America need to protect itself where would you get ready-made troops
to fight the enemy?
From your local welfare office??

We spend about 19% of our budget on the military. That is hardly what has bankrupted the country. Without a military what do you think that Putin or someone like him will do to the liberals? Do you think someone like that cares about illegals, gays or other liberal causes? His answer would be to put bullets in their heads.

military spending is largely discretionary & is actually what the federal government should be spending money on. not quite so for welfare to the lazy takers of society

18% of our budget is military.
60% of our budget is social programs.

Here in Minneapolis, "Social Services" account for 45% of all spending.. IOW-WELFARE!! And we have pot holes that could swallow a Fiat! But that's the price you pay for a fatherless crack head culture..
