Please read the following text and answer my question?

All science is a function of the soul, in which all knowledge is rooted. The soul is the greatest of all cosmic miracles, it is the conditio sine qua non of the world as an object. Subject and object are only one. The barrier between them cannot be said to have broken as a result of recent experiences in the physical sciences, for this barrier does not exist.

My question: Since I am a scientist and I dont realy understand philosophy could you please explain to me the above text in simple words.

Long ago, before the Age of Reason in 17th century, when Western knowledge was dominated by the Catholic Church, many people felt the Soul actually "was" who we were. The idea that knowledge and learning, and the place where all our sensory evidence was stored, i.e, Then Brain, wasn't part of common knowledge.

Even the ancient Egyptians with all their learning and ability to construct the pyramids, did not know the function of the Brain. When they embalmed their pharaohs, they destroyed the brain, sucking out the brain matter to aid in dehydration of the corps. Other body organs were stored in jars for the after life, especially the heart, liver and kidneys, but not the brain.

As a scientist you do not consider the "soul" with anymore weight than you'd consider a unicorn. It makes for great stories, but never factors into any real meaningful equations that explain the main forces affecting the natural laws of the universe.

For science isn't based on faith or anything that cannot be measured, weighed, or fit into an observable experiment. You cannot even say the Soul is a "theory" without any evidence that others can also find or examine.

Humans do have character, energy, love, self-interest or other feelings that they act upon in making choices, some may call our moral actions part of our conscience.

Not everyone makes same moral decisions, many do not even believe in God.

So, no human "soul" can be said to be like any other human soul. That to me also means the idea of a soul is more MADE UP.

Not something we all are born with, otherwise, if from a divine source, wouldn't they all be more alike?

Finally, if you believe or explain any thing as "God did it", or it was a miracle, then you are not a true scientist, who would not be happy until the "event" could have a natural explanation.

    Just my two cents.

It's saying that science is based on knowledge but that knowledge is an essential part of the soul. Because of this science cannot exist without a soul as science and knowledge are, basically, the same thing.
